New 4runner Yay!!

hi everyone im new to this forum so hi and yea im 16 and just got my first car..a 1986 4Runner 5-speed 4x4. I just had a few questions does everyone have a push button start? thought it was weird that my car had that and is it normal for the car to start with this button even though theres no key in there? i doubt its normal :bash: oh and i just took out the carpet that was in it because it was just disgusting but now i see under and whats all this stuff i see? it looks like it was put in by the factory i dont even know how to explain it its all around the transmission tunnel and its pretty thick is it somekind of insulator or something? i was hopin to take the carpet off and just paint the steel floor white or black but i cant paint it wit this stuff on it any help to someone that also took of their carpet? well thanks in advance and so yea guess thats it for now its a great car and i hope you all can help me out

Im pretty sure that no 1st generation 4runners came with a start button lol. The previous owner probably installed that one i guess. Either way congrats on the new 4runner. :bigok:

hey thanks! yea i also have a safety cancel button on the dash what is that for? Anyways yea anyone know where i can get a cheap transmission..i think my first an second gear are fading and also a good replacement clutch for under eh 100 bucks or close to that price? thanks ahead!

The clutch cancel switch is so you can start it w/o the clutch depressed which can come in handy on trails where you might need to start it in neutral fro some reason or another.
