New 4runner

New to the 4Runner world, Ive always been interested in the Tacoma,4Runner models. Couple years ago I jumped into a 2007 FJ, loved it. 6speed manual, huge interior space. Just never liked the rear seat doors. Well my job had me traveling for almost a year, so I wasnt going to let it sit while making payments on it. Sold it to Car Max. Ive had a 2002 WRX since it was new. Its just recently hit the 200k mile mark and starting to feel its age. Plus the years of hard driving it like it should be. So now I need a new daily driver. 3rd Gen 4runners look to be about perfect for my needs. I found one pretty close to me that looks great. Just have a couple concerns with it having the 1st gen TRD supercharger on it. I have yet to find out when it was installed. The runner has 172k on it now. There are lots of service records on car fax for the usual stuff. Oil changes, coolant and auto tranny flushes. Timing belt, etc at 113k.

So what is the concensus on this having the supercharger on it for what could be 150k + miles ? Its about a 3 hour drive to see and drive it. Any guys around the Chattanooga area that could maybe give it a peek ? Just dont buy it if its good, lol.

Awesome find, with the supercharger and all. The only thing that would concern me is the spray-painted over rust. But overall it looks like a good deal

Hmmm, wonder if they got to it and figured it would be too much short term maintenance. Everything I have read so far on this type supercharger is on average only good for 100k miles and needs to be professionally rebuilt. If you happen to round up any of those old posts can you please link them.

That Suby is just gorgeous. Now we'll need to see video or photo evidence of it in action, preferably sideways or airborne while covered in dirt!

The T4R looks good.... just sketchy painted over rust...

Thank you, the WRX has been great to own. Wish I had some fun dirt pics. Its been tarmac only for the last 100k miles. Koni inserts and lowering springs do not make for off road friendly. It did use to jump some railroad tracks on occasion when it had stock suspension. Also took it down some 4wheeler trails I found in FL. Big sugar sand pits are alot of fun. But mostly just a fun daily driver for the last 11 years. The FJ did all the dirty stuff.

This truck has come up for sale before. I think he is right. It must have fell through. I have call that guy before when I was looking and still in the mid west. He is a strait shooter and seemed like a stand up guy that was selling it.
