NEW 5th Gen BAJA RACK

I want One! On their website, they list their roof racks capacity at 300 lbs moving and 600 lbs static load. I'm guessing this one falls into that same category?.?

Just re-read the first post..."The rack itself is rated for 720 lb but the rating on the roof of the Toyota 4Runner Gen 5 is 300lb this is why we use the 300Lb weight limit."

That explains that, I still want one though.

i really like this rack but there's a problem because i use the factory cross bars to attach my snowboard and surf racks. can the bars on the bottom of the rack be used to attach snowboard/surf racks?

I am sure they can. You might just need to modify the clamps that attach the board carriers to the crossbars. OR you can get rail adapaters for a thule/yakima rack and install thule/yakima bars.

It appears there are a number of members planning on buying this rack or seriously interested. I have posted a poll in the thread to determine how many members would be interested in buying this rack so we can see what kind of bargaining power there would be for a group discount.

I have a Bajarack roof rack, ladder, and lightbar on my 3rd gen. If/when I get a 5th gen I would not hesitate for a second to buy another bajarack. Quality is ridiculously good. Mine gets put to use every weekend at the lake.

Looks like the basket attaches to the crossbars. Besides weight limitations of the crossbars, you also add another 5inches or so to the height of the vehicle and my guess is...With your lift and the basket on, you will not be able to fit into your garage if you have one or you will have to take it on/off frequenty. The nice thing about the bajarack is that it removes the factory cross rails and is attaches to the vehicle. So really you are only adding 2.5inches of height to the vehicle (factory cross trails on the SR5/limited are 2.5inches above the roof and the Baja height is 5 inches)

Agreed, I pulled it into the garage last night to see how much room I've got to play with. I'm ordering from Icon today but I don't think it will make a difference in where I'm at now as far as height goes. I like the BajaRack better and will be ordering it today as well. I just happened to run into that basket and thought I would throw it out there as another option. Nice to see some accessories starting to become available. Now if I could just get a Supercharger and front bumper!

Just FYI,
I would be putting up my stock TE rack up for Sale shortly after getting the new one. Local would be better to avoid shipping charges, but the rack shouldn't be too heavy so I can always ship via UPS. Since the box would be long, prob get an over sized box fee though.
