Had my 3rd gen for 20 years and finally picked up a new one. New car every 20 years ain't too bad.

That's a nice looking ride. I just bought a 1997 4Runner Limited with 267,000 on the clock. Any advice for me? Timing belt has been replaced withing 20k.

I just picked up a 2016 TE. If I wait another 20 years, I might be picking up a 2036/7. Lord, I hope Toyota is still making them then. Come to think of it, I'll be pushing 70...Lord, I hope I'm still alive then. Maybe I ought to aim for a new one every 10 years.

[MENTION=147805]TJ710[/MENTION] - Read, read, read the 3rd gen forums. Have the lower ball joints inspected/replaced. Check/replace radiator (pink milkshake).
In 20 years/260k miles, I went thru several starters, alternators and 3-4 batteries. I think I replaced my plugs/wires 3x times. Had the LBJ replaced, shocks replaced after 200k. Never had the pink milkshake.
Probably the worse/ongoing issue with the truck was the antenna. I went thru 3 plastic belts on the antenna but the motor was still good. I just finally gave up on replacing the plastic belt and kept the antenna out all the time.

The 5th gen white trucks are awesome. If I had them all sitting side by side for me to choose when I got mine, it would've been white. But the mag grey was looking pretty good and I didn't have to wait for it.
