That is very ugly.
Front end isn't terrible (though it does look like a Mazda to me). Back end is just fugly.
Glad my 5th gen should be here this week....

Yep like a midsize blend between the Rav4 and new Sequoia. Definitely not the "bones" of an off road SUV. Horrible clearance for offroad based on that. Like a highlander.

The 4Runner has a few very signature details that will not be left out. The irregular hexagon grill is not going away. It's effectively the 4R trademark detail. Similarly the wheel wells are not going to be round. Toyota's design language does not generally include circular wheel wells, and I would not expect the next gen to change that. The old sequoia is the only one in recent history I can think of. The other issue is the c-pillar. The 4Runner c pillar has always been a similar forward sloping design. This one is sort of there, but not correct to the vehicle design language. I also don't think it'll share a Tacoma rear tailgate design.

The 4Runner is meh. Just a 5th gen with a new sequoia front and rear hatch.
But the Stout taken from the FJ Cruiser EV concept - that's a winner. Price it like a Maverick and it'll sell 200K units a year. Might cut into the Taco sales though.

Wait who's rendering is this? That is not a 4runner. The thing that makes the 4runner so special is you can always see the 4runner in it. Even the 4th and 5th gens which were a pretty big shift away from previous generations still undoubtably have the 4runner look.
Even though I have a tendency to not like new Toyota designs when they first come out... that seems just too hideous for Toyota to go with. I just cant see even one redeeming aspect...

Yes, if that Stout had removable roof panels and flip down back. in the cab to open it up it would be perfect.
That seems insanely unsafe.
The tailgate on this is useless. The whole rear end is way off.
If Toyota releases a unibody truck, I hope it's Prime and they have a platinum version. I'll put my order in right away.

Chevy Avalanche with a couple of Jeep panels in the roof... The "mid gate" and glass on the Avalanche folded flat.
