New 87 wheel/tire questions

Picked up the 87
Very happy with it
I want to put 32" bridgstone desert duelers with 15" steel wheels
Have you guys noticed a big difference with power going from bone stock to this combo?

32's is noticeable change, 33's puts you at a point where you may want to regear to regain the lost power and mpg.

What ratio would you recommend for that tire/wheel combo? Is there a kit available?

That's for a manual trans.


At $800-1000+ to regear front and rear, it's probably not worth it for 32's.
33's is right on the edge where it's worth it.

The most noticeable variable is fuel economy,
On 235s I was getting 19 MPG
with 31s I get 17(ish)

I suspect this is exponential...

I dont even want to guess what my 4r with 35s gets...

im runnin 33x12.5x15's with 4.56's out of a 1991 4runner with a 5 speed. i drove to boise and back (about 360 mile round trip) and i only used a tank of gas which ended up being almost 25 mpg on highway. i dont think i dropped below 65 the whole way there and back. i do believe this combo is a very wonderful thing!!!

I drove my 87" down from San Fransisco today

I got over 25 mpg

Very impressed with this car
