New Addicted Offroad Tube Bumper Install Pics

Got my tube bumper yesterday and started the install this morning at the Hobby Shop on base. The first welder I used was a total POS gas-less but the big Miller did the real work. Was using the small welder on a patch I had to put in the cross member for the A/C line. I guess they forgot to cut this out. It worked out though. The cross member itself went in fine after some trimming on it and the frame. Here's what it looks like.








I used Krylon Grill Paint. Last coat is drying now and tomorrow I tackle the wheels.
Can't wait to get it back together with wheels painted and a sunny day for pics. The XRC8 winch is on the way. Then it's time to hit the nasty trails!

Jon, I asked BigJohn about the crossmember, and he forgot to notch it for the A/C line. He thought it was for a Tacoma(which doesn't have that line there). Very sorry for that. FWIW, I got an email today that the winch was just shipped out this afternoon from Colorado. But, its enroute to you as we speak.

Just off hand, do you know what the weight difference is compared to the stock bumper/valance panel etc?

Stock bumper and valance weigh 39lbs.

My bumper with a stinger weighs 68lbs. No much difference.

Not much difference? Dude I bent my stock bumper in half by hand. My wife didn't understand the point of the new bumper so I was just showin her how weak the stocker was. That thing is thinner than a beer can!

And no worries Scotty, hell, I needed the welding practice anyway! It's been a few years, but I guess it's like riding a bike. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

The only thing that keeps me from wanting a tube bumper is how nasty everything looks behind it...cause my 4runner is rusty. A coat of paint will only last so long....

ARB weighs in around 150lbs though.

Also, it doesn't look nasty behind it at all. Especially on darker models. Or, paint match the bumper and it all blends in.

My 2000 sport bumper weighed 47lbs and was trimmed.

because since 00' we got that ugly new style bumper with the MASSIVE valiance.

And Scotty, do you build the bumper a little wider on models with limited flares? Looks like the silver one is wider. If /when I order one, I would get the less wide one.

Quicksilvr- I sprayed all my "private parts" behind the bumper with Krylon grill paint and it hides it pretty well.

4-Ripcord- I have a limited and the bumper finishes off nicely right where the flares come over.

Here's how I mounted my OEM turn signals. It was pretty easy to get the plate below the headlight out, drill holes in it, then run self tapping screws into the turn signal. I was originally concerned with them being behind the tube for the most part, but people seem to be able to see them just fine.

Sorry for sending you the wrong crossmember, BTW. You did a great job on the install though so it looks to me like you handled it well.
