New Appearance Options on Limited 03 Models

I noticed that the appearance of the Limited models on the Toyota.com website had changed. The silver section in the middle of the bumper is gone and the vehicles have a solid color except for the running boards and roof rack.

I called Toyota Customer Care to find out if this change was either a mistake on the part of the website or whether the 03 models were now coming out with solid colored front and back ends. They confirmed that there is now an appearance option to remove the silver highlights front & rear and replace them with color matched panels.

This is an option on new vehicles. I don't know if you can get the dealer to replace ones on already sold vehicles.

I think this is GREAT news. I never liked the silver parts in the front & rear and was going to have the dealer paint mine when I get my 4Runner. Now that Toyota has seen the light and decided to offer this makes it even easier.

I think a solid colored vehicle is MUCH sharper than one with chrome and silver in odd places. If you want to see what one looks like just go to the Toyota website and select "Build Your Own " and pick a Limited to build.

I got conflicting information from Toyota today on this.

The first person I talked to was very rude and she said the silver was still on the front & rear bumpers. She also kept mentioning the cladding and appearance package.

I repeatedly remindered her that I was only talking about the LIMITED which has no cladding and doesn't need the standard appearance package but she just couldn't understand it!!!!

The next person looked again and verified that according to her source the silver highlights will be gone and the solid colors will become standard.

I actually like the silver accents on the bumper. My limited is galactic gray, so the silver trim on the bumpers along with the roof rails and running boards, is a nice contrast to the dark gray on the rest of the vehicle.

With the painted bumpers on the limited, how much more will this look like the SR5 with AP?

Yes Snap, I like the color matched look too. As you know, my recently acquired SR5 with AP has the color matching and it looks great. By the way, there was no AP option charge on my truck, and the base price remained at 30,280.00. So I got free colored fenders & bumpers, and free fogs and running boards.

Sheesh, I think it's time Toyota starts doing something for you Limited buyers!
