New ARB Bumper Mounts!!

RunnerUp

some of you might remember the head on collision i was in with an AUDI in february. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16754&highlight=Wreck it took months for the insurance to work out, she didnt own the car and her insurance was trying to screw with me until i said money now or i sue you directly (the agent that kept dicking around for 3 months) so i finally got around to ordering my new winch (wont be here for awhile) and thought, what a better time than now to replace the bumper mounts. about 2 months ago someone did a hit and run in wally world parking lot, im sure it hurt them alot more than me, but it tore off one of the urethane bumpers on my ARB, so i ordered some new ones.

awesome :)

must be weird to see your truck with the arb off... like a hot girl with no teeth! :D

hahaha, nice comparison lee!! its crazy to see how much taller the front end sits with out that 110 lb bumper on there!!! it handles alot differently also, but dont worry, the bumper will be back on there tomorrow, and the new winch will be in the bumper very soon!!

okay, so its still raining so im just gonna leave the bumper off for awhile, i like how it looks (like a hot girl with no teeth), but mostly i like how it handles. hopefully the new winch will be here next week and then i can just get it mounted (damn warn and ARB for working together!) and be ready to go do something fun offroad again.

I want your snorkel

I have a pic of my front end without my tjm on doing my 2 inch bl, looks like a hot girl with crooked teeth lmao (one side doesnt have the 2 inch bl but the other does if you get what I mean )

honestly, if you dont really need the snorkel (i.e. to get to your favorite hunting spot, or you live in hurricane ville) dont get it. you will get so annoyed with in 3 months of people asking "is that your exhaust?" yeah idiot, my exhaust is shooting out through a plastic tube in front of my window....

but it does make a cool noise and makes me feel alot better in the lakes! plus there is always the bling factor!! got mine from 4x4connection.com

well not for hunting but I do drive a lot to get to places for photography, I did get through some deep crap a month ago that scared me

im assuming that on the 4x4 connection site you have the tacoma snorkel that fits 00-02 runners as well. is the intake setup that different on 96-98s where that snorkel wouldn't work?

it is the tacoma snorkel, just like its the tacoma ARB. you would have to take a picture of your intake/airbox for me to 100% confirm, but i think they are similar. only thing you have to do with the 4runner is get a longer length of flexy hose to connect the snorkel to the airbox inside the fender

hey kyle, you should paint the arb while its off!

ha! thats funny lee!! thanks for the laugh...

but seriously, i was noticing today as it sat in my front patio that the finish has worn off of some parts of it, mostly where the winch cable rubbed it off and one or two places where lights or other fun things were mounted. two weeks ago i had to sawzall off my skid plate because of a stripped bolt and stripped some paint off the underside of it. ive got a buddy who can fabricate some stuff, who im going to have build some sliders and a gas tank skid over xmas break, who gave me the idea of putting flares on the ARB so it matches the width of the factory flares. he said the only hold back would be the bumper needing to be repainted, so if its not too cost prohibitive i might just do it. or maybe ill just paint it toyota black and let it be a hard core mall crawler!!

i tried putting the bumper on today with a friend and it wouldnt slide over the frame, it was a hair too narrow to go onto both rails, so im going to call ARB tomorrow and see what the deal is with that. after driving around today and realizing how crazy other people are, i felt really naked and unprotected without my bumper on there.

what color were you thinking i should paint it? :artist:

semi gloss black :)

i really think you should do it, it would protect it from rust... not that thats a huge concern but ya never know!

that actually might not be a bad idea, my only worry is it gets alot of hits from small stuff like trees and rocks and audi's, im wondering how easily paint would come off of it, of course i do want to herculine my rockers and rear bumper, perhaps i could just herc the ARB also...
