New B with an 89

I just picked this 89 up today. 5sp 3.0 v6. Pretty clean it's all there just a little dirty. First dumb question. Is there a key code under one of the door panels? I have a key but only works in the ignition. I doesn't look like the other locks have been monkeyed with. Thanks

Nice looking rig - the locks might just be dirty (these 4Runners tend to do that). The lubrication in the locking mechanism may have become so encrusted with dirt, dust, and debris that it just won't turn. See if you can lube the thing up really well and get it to work. Failing that, get the door panel off and get some WD40 in there to get rid of the caked-on crap. If that doesn't do it, time for a new lockset.

I have a 1990, and have gotten the locks to the point that they turn, although not easily.

One key fits the ignition, doors, tailgate window, and fuel door. If your key fits the ignition only, it may have been changed.
The dealer should be able to cut you a key from the VIN, and you could see if that works the rest of the locks.

Thank you all for the help. I am waiting to hear back from a toyota dealer. I am also going to start removing and cleaning the interior so I will look under the door panels. I remenber my 02 tacoma had the codes under one of the panels.

Toyota says yes on cutting keys from the vin#! Thanks again for the advice! Now the fun begins.
