New brakes?

I drive a 2014 SR5 Premium with 45k miles on it. Bought it new. I don't tow anything, it's my daily driver and car that takes me skiing.

Just took the car in to balance the wheels and rotate the tires to a Firestone Complete Auto Care center. They tell me I need new rear rotors & pads and want me to fork over $475. I said no thanks.

How can I tell if I really need to do all this? The pads are simple enough, I can just look. What about the rotor?

I have not noticed a braking issue at all.

I am sure @ 45K you do not need new rotors. Just check pads and if needed DIY for 4 pads is 20 minutes job. G.L.

Yes, I normally would do brake pads myself. But I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and I have a 10 lb weight limit. I can't lift the tire/wheel.

I'd leave it alone until you recovered or ask the shop how many millimeters you have left on each pad just to be safe.
