New Bumper being fabbed this week!!!

Well, I just dropped off my truck to have a custom front bumper Fabbed up. This is a new fab shop and was given a really good deal. I took in pictures of the various bumpers I liked and we are going from there. The owner came highly recommended from a friend and is very easy to work with and willing to let me come help. So the next few days I will be going in a little early so I can take off and go help a little with design build process. I will update with pictures as it goes along.


This is a really good guy, straight shooter and even though he is a Jeep guy wants to help out us 3rd Gen guys and make some products for us. Starting off with Front bumper and Lower link arm skids.

stopped by today, showed me cardboard templates and asked a few more questions. He said he will start the tin metal mock-up tomorrow. Will be taking off a couple hours early from work to help out.

He is actually building twice..once in thin metal as mock-up that way any changes wont waste expensive material. Then once we agree on the design and fit he will use that to build out of the heavier gauge. Will try to post pics tomorrow night if I can take some of the mock-up.

Okay so here is the status as of today. They mocked up one side and will be having CAD drawings done and then have all pieces laser cut and as much bent as possible to minimize welds. I spent just over an hour with them discussing the Winch mounting and location. It will have a 2.5" round LED for turn signal and will have a 4" light opening for fog/driving lights. The company logo is a Globe shape with long lat type lines. There is a possibility this will be laser cut in front of Driving lights if it doesnt affect the beam to much. This will set it apart a little and act as a rock guard. If it interferes obviously will be placed elsewhere. So far I am pleased with the fact they listen to my ideas and welcome my participation in the process.

There will be some cut outs in the top to access Winch controls and some other things also but so far it is in the early stages. I just wanted to show some progress.

Looks good so far. Sounds like these guys would be willing to make variations of this bumper I they can keep the price reasonable.

Are you planning on haveing any hoops added? Can't wait to see the finished product. So you think they would make other products, skids ? Brian mentioned they. might make LCA mount skids?

Drifter- I have talked to them about making the LCA Skids and he is going to take a template and see if he can do it for a reasonable rate. Same general pricing range as the ones made for the FJ/4th Gen. if possible. I already told him he would for sure have 2 buyers for them, you and Brian.

I was thinking of just a single center hoop, however he almost has me convinced to do full hoops. The reason being center section goes forward slightly then the two side hoops would then have slight angle back providing more support and protection in case I do hit(or stand it on it's nose). With a single center hoop still possiblity of taking hard enough hit to push it back. But will play with it and see.

The plan is to keep the basic design and offer flat, hoop options. However he is a custom Fab shop so will make just about anything. So far I am just pleased with the fact he listens to my input and is trying to provide me exactly what I am looking for while still adding his touches.

I forgot to ask if he made the template for the LCA skids. I am picking my truck up after work tonight so maybe he will have time to do a template now.

Said he will crank out at least three sets and that they should be pretty easy to do but he didnt get the template done. So you will have to wait until I go to get my bumper put on. Oh speaking of waiting..Brian you want me to just pick it up and have it in my garage for 3 months so you arent the only one that had to wait 4 months for a bumper? LOL I am teasing and that thing does look good on your truck.
