New Bumper for '97 4Runner

Hi all,

I've recently been thinking about modifying my 1997 4Runner Limited. It's currently a stock model and I plan to start with the exterior first. I'm looking to replace the front bumper with an integrated grill guard, somthing that looks like either of the following pics.......

Afterwards I will be looking into a slightly wider rear bumper so I can mount a coaxial whip antenna. The end result will be a military-looking command post vehicle.

Anyone have any good (read: affordable) resources for replacement or aftermarket bumpers that will work on a 3rd Gen T4R?

A full replacement like in the first picture will probably run you close to $1000. If you want something like in your second picture, you are probably going to spend under $500 (a brush guard type). You would be best off searching classifieds for something used if you are looking to save money. How is Winnipeg these days? I was born there, but moved to Southern California where it averages 20 degrees Celsius all year :cheers: I remember waiting for the bus to take me to Portage place from the Maples! Glad I don't have to do that anymore!

The price tag of around $1000 is what I expected, though I'm still hoping to find a decent deal less. Ultimately the brush guard is what I "need" even though I don't plan on ramming any trees (I'll save that for when I finally get my Bombardier Iltis).

It's finally warm now, albeit humid (par for the "warm" months as I'm sure you recall). We flooded to the proportion that we called out the CF to help between Portage and Brandon. Othwerise the days are pretty enjoyable right now - and besides, any day without snow I won't be complaining about! I've actually contemplated the jump to California myself, got a friend living in Sacramento and I've been looking into some work there but the lack of US citizenship is keeping me up here.

You might want to check out Outdoor Logic in the vendor section. They make really sweet front bumpers along with other stuff for runners.
