new bumper for t4r 2006

greetings!

got t4r sr5. i found out that factory bumpers are basically cosmetic-only and does very little when hit. they are 2.5 mi rated, if what i've read is true. i'd like to get an after-market bumper that does a better job.

1. how difficult is it to remove front & rear bumpers? is front harder to remove than rear? or vice versa? I have no experience working on cars but i do have an electrical engineering degree...

2. what are the tools required to remove bumpers? i can buy wrench, etc at the local home depot. i guess i'm concerned if i would need some special tool XXX that would cost me 5 grands?

3. any recommendation for after-market bumpers?

4. can a newbie with lots of time install those after-market bumpers? or should i rather have someone do it for me? i prefer do-it-urself cuz i think it'll be fun. will 'welding' ever be involved in installing those after-market bumpers?

Should be similar to a 2006. As far as the rear bumper you're on your own as I haven't seen anyone put up instructions. If you're serious in doing all this, you may want to pick up a Factory Service Manual.

Good Times has replaced both front and rear (and a hell of a lot more than that too) bumpers on his 2005 with custom units. It's doable, but probably very pricey. Do a search for his threads and you'll see what I'm talking about.
