New cats and recall cleared.

Will I had the dealer put on new cats for the sulfur smell under warranty. So far so good. Now the only thing I can smell is the new metal and cats heating up. They also went ahead and took the liberty of shaving my gas pedal even though I told them I had no interest in doing the recall. When I dropped it off I was adamant about them not stealing my 4Runner All weather mats. I told them three times about not touching the mats and not doing anything with the recall. I guess I should have told them don't touch the gas pedal either. Oh well, at least they said the recall on my vehicle is clear so if and when the time comes to sell there won't be any open recalls on it. The good news is that who ever shaved the pedal did a nice job with it and a non 4Runner enthusiaist wouldn't notice the difference. I was concerned that the shorter pedal might make my toes want to slip off the bottom of the pedal or that I'd have to reach further or move my seat up a little bit, but it was perfectly fine driving home.

your new cats... did you just complain about them or was their a tsb? can you point me in the right direction, thanks

Could you post a picture of the shaved pedal?

Too dark tonight to get a good one. I'll get one up tomorrow.

There is a TSB on this. Here is some of the info that I used. I actually printed off both of these and took them into the dealer with me just so I was prepared. The first link is to another forum members post. The second link is to safecar.gov... just put in your vehicle information and it will pull up any TSB's related to it. Search the forum too, there is a lot of other detailed information on this. I think this is covered under warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles. Also, even though it says for 2007-2009, the dealer looked it up and said my 2006 would be covered as well.

Hey guys looks like chaz beat me to it. If you look at the pics in the links he posted that is pretty much exactly what my pedal looks like now. If I sit there and stare at it, it does kind of make me mad, compared to non cut pedal it does look kind of bad. But if you don't look at it, you don't really think about it. Did a lot driving around on it and it didn't feel any different than before they cut it. I am fine living with it for now, but I'm definitely going to call them and tell them I want the new pedal, even if I have to wait.

Called the dealership and requested a new pedal and they are ordering me one. Said it may take a little while to get in, but it's ordered. Thank you chaz and others that have posted info on the new pedal option.

New pedal came in within a day and is now installed! Looks much better than the cut one. Thanks again for those that enlightened me to this option!
