New coils...wrong direction!

So I bought a set of coils that came from a 2000 4Runner to try and correct my sag issue...and instead of going up the half inch I needed to match the front, I went down a half inch. Advice?

You definatley did not want to use springs from a 2000-2002. Those springs were by far the shortest springs of all. Pm me if you want to buy a set of rear springs for a 98.

Well that would explain that! Thanks bgmac! I still have the old stock 98 springs but they aren't right either. Which springs would I need or what aftermarket springs would be best to level my runner out or give it a 1" or so lift?

You want either OME 890's(will lift the rear) or new springs off a 99' 4runner. You could also use a 1" spacer in the rear

I think OME 890s would probably lift the rear a little too much. I got close to 3" of lift on my 98 with 890s. I think OME 906s would be a good choice if you were going to go aftermarket, but have you thought about just buying a brand new set of 98 springs? If you aren't looking to spend that much then I would try and find a set of 99 springs but you really can't guarantee that the rear of those won't sag either.

Thanks guys, I've been pricing those 890's and they look to be around $200 shipped...but according to the info I'm seeing I'll also need something for the front right? I just had new KYB shocks put in all the way around last month and the front look adjustable...but I don't think they'll go 2 to 3 inches! What's the best way to go there?

Springs from a '99 4runner would be a good choice it will level out or give you a very slight rake if you are stock in the front.

I say make some space for some 33s though :biggrin2: and throw some OME 890s or 891 in there. Nothin' like a 3 inch lift to make you want to buy some larger tires and lift the front too. I'm going to replace my OME 891s in the rear with some FJ-80 coils and try that out for a bit. I'm a little hesitant to swap them out since the 891s have been sooooo good. I love those coils with the bilsteins. Very flexy, comfortable ride, and did I mention they flex. lol.

OK, good advice on the LC coils, but where do you pick them up? I've found a few sources for OME, but with my luck I'll end up picking up a lowering kit!:bonk:

Best way I know of is to find used ones. Make sure you get the front coils from the FJ-80 not the rears. I just picked up a set from IH8mud.com

Time and time again I read about 99's having tall springs. My 99 is draggin the ground in the rear. I need lift, but am scared to do anything after all the great talk about 99 springs.

I keep looking at the 1.5" daystar kit for $40 for the rear. I would love to raise the front and rear but would feel stupid if I bought a 2.5" front and rear kit and still have a sagging rear.

Anyone know why the 2.5 is $120 while the 1.5 is only $40 for the rear? Was thinking 2.5 rear and 1.5 front untill I saw how much more the 2.5 rear was.
