I'm pretty excited and proud of myself of what i can do when i really don't know much about mechanics. I read some articles from 4runners.org and did some simple/okay mods. Currently, i did 2 of the articles. Cleaning Your Interior Fan Unit AND Removed my air elbow . Cleaning my interior fan will help the air that coming out of my vents more fresh and clean. You will be amazed of how much dust you will find on that filter. My next mod that i did was taking out my air elbow. It connects to your OEM air intake. For me, i have an aftermarket intake which i have lots of room to work with. I did not know how to take the air elbow out when i first installed my intake. After i read some articles, i finally got this elbow out. Haven't tested it yet. It said i will get more HP because of more air, but we'll see. ;):

My next mod will be 'Cleaning my o2 sensor'. 'Adding oil gauge', and adding '"Type R" Extended Rear Differential'. If you guys need help with any of the 2 mods i've done, let me know so i can help you out. ;):

about cleaning the fan unit, basically i did each step as listed. kinda. well, i'm more of a visual person so i just look a pictures and do it. HAHA. but here's the steps i did though.

unscrew 2 screws from bottom support bar. opened glove box and came right off. then unscrew 3 more screws so you can take out the whole bottom support bar. this is one of the difficult part. it said to take out the bottom kick panel. it didn't show ANY instructions of how to take it out so i didn't. but it was difficult to take one of the 3 screws out of the fan unit. after you take those 3 screws from the fan unit out. unplug the cord and wash it.

i tested my car after taking the air elbow out, i did noticed some more power. of course, i resetted the ECU by taking out the EFI chip for about 15 minutes. you will noticed more air because you can even hear the intake sucking so much air. great mods. =)

i will do that lube-ing throttle cable tomorrow morning. THANKS!

MAF sensor cleaning is very simple. It is located on your intake. Which i believe T4R intake sensor is consider as the MAF sensor also. SO! Take out the sensor with some pliers and use an electrical cleaning spray and spray it down. It's THAT simple. There are also several other sensors but i'm planning to learn more about the o2 sensor before i perform cleaning it. Good luck and have fun learning about your T4R!
 
Well, to me, this thread is mostly for 3rd Gen. Even though the years of T4R are different but they are very much alike so these mods are similar to all 3rd Gen.
 
Okay, just a small note about cleaning your MAF sensor. From 4x4wire.com, they said you can use an electrical spray cleaner to clean the MAF sensor. I went to Home Depot today and asked if they sell those cleaner there. They said they do similar to it but that person said, i'm not suppose to touch the MAF sensor at all because they are sensitive. Just to let you know, the way i cleaned mine was using the air spray(the one you spray into your computer keyboard to get the dust out) and cleaned it with that. Which it blew alot of dust out even though it's not perfectly clean. That's about it. But the person from Home Depot said i'm not suppose to spray any liquid to it. So i'm just wondering if any of you guys are electricians who knows about this issue?

So today i cleaned my throttle body. I read a write-up from yotatech.com and here's the process. Find the one that says 'Air Intake and Throttle Body Cleaner'. Here's my simple write-up. Before you perform this installation, wear a facemask! The fluid is VERY VERY strong. I didn't know it would be this strong but it's soo strong that i can still smell the extreme fluid through my mask. So wear protective mask. While engine is off, disconnect your air intake hose out and put a rag under the throttle body. Dirty liquid will drip down from the opening so make sure you cover it well so no circuits are near the liquid. After that, do a 10-sec spray inside the throttle body while doing the butterfly on and off manually. Spray about half a spray can. Then connect your air intake hose back on and start your engine. Engine will not start for awhile which it is PERFECTLY NORMAL. Just add some gas to it by tapping on your gas pedal and it will start normally. The engine will rattle of course but will slowly run smoother. After the idle is smooth as normal, turn off your engine. And do the whole process again but use ALL of your spray. After that process is done, start your engine again. And once again, your engine will not start for awhile which is normal. Wait for couple of seconds while tapping on the gas pedal and it will start again. After it's in normal mode, turn the engine off. Then start again, you will noticed it is back to normal. I believe it didn't start because of the fluid you just sprayed into the throttle body. As you know, water should not go into your engine. So for this special fluid, it evaporates letting no liquid inside the throttle body. And this is the reason why it didn't have a good start. But you guys can look into my suggestion and i am not responsible for any damage to your vehicle. This is just a simple write-up from me for an educational use. Which i'm learning so much through t4r.org. Have fun with it and enjoy!

Decided to take a picture of my interior today. The screen is my PSP which is mounted on my cupholder piece. Other than that, i have neon light, indiglo gauges, volt gauge, 2 blue LED under the headunit, and few more. enjoy. :D
