New Dashboard Steering tilt not working

Today I had a new dash cover installed on my wifes 2004 4Runner under warranty.

However, on the way home I noticed the steering wheel tilt no longer works.

My question is, how far do they have to tear down the dash to install a new dash cover, and would that involve the steering column?

The steering column stays. Probably dropped a screw or something jammed it up.

That'd be my guess or when they put the cover back on it jammed up the mechanism somewhere.

Normally when I do dash pads I remove the steering wheel and the column switches (headlight stalk, wiper stalk, ect.) as it makes removing and installing the dash pad from the vehicle much easier for one person.

But there's no need to do anything else to the steering column and none of the above would affect the tilt function, so my guess is something is jammed up from re-assembly. like the bottom cover, clamshell column cover, and/or like [MENTION=91185]V8Man[/MENTION] mentioned something dropping into the hinge.

Any chance you could take it back to the dealer and have them fix what they messed up? Should be at no charge to you since the issue occurred after the warranty work.
