New Drifter @ ODL Antenna Mount

Just FYI below, but I just want to stress that these mounts are QUALITY and I love mine! They will work FINE the way they are, I was just hoping this info would help in the evolution of these...

We have had conversations with the manufactures of popular Jeep mounts (taillight, tire carrier] regarding their powder coated antenna mounts. Our suggestion … mask around the mounting holes and the antenna stud mounts 1/2” hole before the coating is applied so bare metal is exposed. Alternately, include in the instructions the need for the mount to be grounded to the vehicle AND that the antenna stud or coax cable MUST have access to chassis ground through the mount or the antennas system WILL NOT WORK.

Got mine mounted up(powder coated bracket), haven't tuned the new cb antenna yet as I was waiting for a swr meter. I have noticed my fm reception sucks donkey a$$. Could the powder coating be contributing? BTW- I have a Fire-Stick match maker so I can run one antenna for both.
Maybe I'll try and grind off some powder coat on the antenna mount and where it attaches to the body.

Good info.. We will talk with our Powder Coat guy when we pick up the next batch. Future mounts will be 1/2 '' and guys with bigger studs will just have to drill. This shouldn't cause a problem since the powder will be removed from that hole anyway
 
BTW -- I really want to apologize for posting that. I feel like an a**, I know ODL has already powdercoated a batch. I should have just PM'ed this.

These are GREAT mounts! I LOVE MINE... I just posted that info but I don't want to take any biz away from ODL... They are quality !!!

The Drifter mount is back! I've been working with the former owner of Outdoor Logic for the past month or so. I'm going to be making these mounts again. Buy them while you have the chance. I'm running one batch at the beginning of July, and will make more as needed.

It seems from the pictures that the antenna would be too close to the tail light, any antenna with a spring attached would start whipping against the tail light while off-roading. Anyone have this problem??

4' Firestik, medium duty spring, ODL mount, and no contact. No contact at all while going 70+ on the highway. No contact at all while at Lonestar Jamboree in Gilmer Texas last month either.
