your undercarriage still looks good, Por15 does wonder to the undercarriage even the interior. I had Por15 in my last vehicle 240sx and it never rust again, you can just apply the por15 with the surface rust, it will ihibit the rust and moisture and you'll never see rust again

post some "after" pics....my whole under carriage has surface rust too...the salt in PA sux as well...I'm interested to see how the Por15 works.

Here are the after results of my F350 I did last winter. POR15 is great stuff - the key is the prep though.

:iagree: Por-15 is amazing stuff. To the Op, I don't think your undercarriage looks bad at all relative to the age and area it's driven in.

This thread makes me so happy I could cry. I have a 2001 4Runner that had some great rust protection from the start, but after nine years it still looks like the OP pics.
The frame has rust around the weld spots and generally places where things join together. The spar tire rim is gross, as are the running board mounts and the insides of the bumper, etc. The good thing is that the majority of the frame lengths have smooth black paint under the coating.
I'm wondering how to best turn my machine into a survivor. I'd like to clean off some of the old undercoating, wire brush, POR-15, and then get a fresh gel based undercoating in late October.
What's the best way for me to safely lift up my car to work under it in my yard. That's the only way things are going to get done sine I don't think I'll fit under when it's on its wheels.
Other thing is--what parts should NOT be painted with POR-15?

I am planning on doing the same thing. Por-15 has a cleaner (Marine Clean) and Prep (Metal Ready) they say you should use before you apply it.
They say that Por-15 best adhears to rust, so is it better to just apply it over the rust, or should you use a wire brush first?
Also, Por-15 as UV sensitive, but since it is the frame, I don't think there is anything to worry about. Just to be safe though, I am going to use their CHASSISCOAT BLACK top coat over the Por-15.

Always remove rust before applying rust prevention coats, what i really reccomend is that you prep it as much as possible, take a day and just remove all the rust you can see, and then buy a wax-oyl kit, and spray the car.
