new fender flares

so I just installed the new bushwacker extend-a-fender flares. What a pita if you're doing it by yourself! Definitely MUCH easier if you've got someone there to help! 3 hours, cramped legs, 2 cuts, and 1 bruise later........

I had mine on my '97 painted by a friend and yes,two people installing is so much quicker as we had it done in less than an hour plus air tools are nice.

I'll post up my pics over the weekend.

yea, ive noticed you've posted quite a bit on the '97 with the bushwacker flares. I'm excited to see how it looked painted. Gloss black you said??

Yea, air tools would have been really nice! I left my tools in my stepdads truck so I was stuck with my putzy-cheap ratchet, drill, and "bad boys": lefty and righty :) I really like the soft rubber mounts that keep the flare from scratching the paint as the factory flares did :(

Yes,recently I dug up some old pics of my '97 and will be scanning them and I'll post 'em up.

Gloss black with a bit of flex agent in the paint to reduce cracking if I did rub them on something and it makes it much easier to touch up and buff.

oo, I would have never thought of that, flex agent. Seeing as it was painted by a friend I'm sure it wasn't too expensive to paint them, but do you know roughly how much it would cost to get it done? I wasn't going to paint them, but I found a site that sells 99 highlander hoods ready for paint for less than $180 (not sure how reputable the site is tho), and if I was going to get the hood done, I figure MAYBE i'd get the flares done too

dude just wanted to say that you have one hell of a view from your house and the 4Runner in the driveway makes it even better.

Thanks alot man. I love this area. Beautiful views all the way around. And the runner in the driveway helps make it all worthwhile :) Repping the Roaring Fork Valley 970

The flares look great!
How far do they stick out?
Do they stick out as far as the Black SR5 Flares or father like the limited?
The reason I ask is because I took my old SR5 Flares off due to the rubbing on the paint, but wanted to put limited on, and since the stealer charges a arm and a leg, i said screw it and am now running without them and my paint job is paying for it dearly.

Thanks!

They stick out more than the factory sr5's, and (IMO) noticeably less than factory limited's.

Yea, it really bummed me out to see all the scratching done by the factory flares
And after removing the running boards they just didn't seem right, so i took em all off. Everytime i'd walk by the car and saw the scratches, it tore me in two. I'm much happier now tho :)

I had a hardtime coping with the cost of 6 peices of plastic! But it's well worth it now... Gave a whole new look to the runner

I ordered them from truckcustomizers.com for about $400. I had found them for a bit cheaper elsewhere but had a really hard time with them previously. truckcustomizers has been really good, and they ship really fast. (every order within 2 to 3 days)
