Border, maybe you should be everywhere at once! Not giving 110% are we? Just kidding. I hope I didn't offend you by referring to you as simply a responder. I know you are much more than that, and that you and your colleagues do provide some deterrence through presence...just not enough deterrence to make me feel comfortable. Like I said, your numbers are way to few to effectively halt crime before it happens...hence the reason I carry concealed.
I can tell a couple of stories of when no cop was around to keep the whackos from being what they are...luckily I've always been able to get myself out of those dangerous situations, as is my first responsibility. And I sincerely hope that I will never have to discharge my firearm anywhere other than at the shooting range.
Here's my best analogy for all those non-believers out there:
I wear my seatbelt every day in case there comes a time when it may be used to save my life. I don't plan on getting in a car accident, I do everything I can possibly do to prevent a car accident; but I still wear my seatbelt every day.
Now replace the word "seatbelt" with "firearm" and the words "car accident" with "violent crime situation" and you'll see why I advocate concealed carry for responsible, legal citizens.
