New for '08 "Urban Runner"

I work for a Toyota dealer and we just found that Toyota will be releasing an "Urban Runner" package for the '08 V6 Sport edition. The vehicle will only come in Black, Silver or Artic Frost (a first for this generation 4runner.) The interior will include Alcantara seats with leather bolsters, factory ipod integration,an integrated portable tomtom navigation system, and a black wood dash kit. The outside gets "unique" 18" alloy rims, "sport" style spoiler, and "Urban Runner/XREAS" badges in place of standard SPORTEDITION badges, black painted sport style roof roack/step tubes.

Pricing is to be annouced the beginning of feb.

I'll try and copy and paste the relase we got from Toyota. :D

So I take it this is designed to be a street machine more so than an off roader or expedition vehicle ?
 
Goodies inside might be nice but it's just a styling excercise otherwise and just a marketing gimmick like all the special edition Mustangs Ford puts out.
 
"urban" with leather seats huh...if it were cloth with heated seats, i can understand. but with this.... hell no!

Sounds cool but I'd rather wait to see what the next gen will look like. Urban Runner how bad ass is that?...I hope it doesn't come off as a mini Escalade.:cannon:
 
MSRP will be $1,760 over the Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD V6's base price of $32,600.

The 4Runner Urban Runner will begin arriving at dealerships in early February. Initially, the Urban Runner Package will only be available in the Sport Edition 4WD V6 configuration. In April 2008, a 2WD version will be available.

My dealership didnt get one on this allocation, but hopefully the next. :)
 
I admit I'm eager to see this trim, but the chrome handles and black racks and steps just killed it for me. Also, I don't know why Toyota refers the interior trim as "silver". My '07 Sport's interior trim is more of a dark charcoal silver. It's all relative I guess. And for the record I like my silver insert on my SE shift knob better. :p

And speaking of colors, I think the Black, Silver, or Blizzard Pearl is ok. However, I think the exclusion of Shadow Mica is a mistake. Shadow is a great color for a Sport imho. Well I guess it could be worse, they could have offered a blue 4runner with a white roof (like the FJ) but it would send mixed messages :p :

i guess the 'sport style' spoiler are left-overs from '03 + '04s.... at least to my eye.

kinda underwhelmed with it, but it's still a nice looking truck
