Howdy. So I guess I'm not technically new since I joined the site back in 2009 when I bought my first 4Runner but I haven't really been on or active for many years. I had an 06 SR5 and had grand plans for it but they never really materialized. Funds went other places and and soon it just became a daily driver. It treated me well, on-road and some light off; and was good for lots of fun mileage but I never really modded. Some slightly upsized Revo2's (265/70) and a Yakima rack but that was about it. Here it is over in the hills of TN.
Well the time came that it was going to need quite a bit of work (brakes-pads and calipers, tires, suspension, etc.) and instead of putting the money into it I decided it was time for an upgrade. This followed me home this week and so far I'm very happy.
Since its brand new and I'm sure I'll have it for the next 10 years or so I'm definitely looking to do some of the fun mods to it over time that I never got around to with the old one. As funny as it may sound, it's also good to have some of the niceties that I've never had a chance to enjoy in a new car such as nav, etc. Already taken it for a little light wheeling and hope to hit some logging/trail roads tomorrow and try out some of the new electronic 4wheel wizardry.
I do have to be honest though that I have one small bit of buyers remorse--the byproduct of a) thinking you know something and being wrong about it and b) making somewhat of an impulse purchase and not fully researching the thing in a that you thought you were sure of. I was under the impression that all Trail's had the KDSS by default but obviously they don't. After a little reading today I've verified that mine doesn't and learned that the cost to add it (frame swap and on and on) makes it pointless to even think about adding. Oh well. I'm sure its an awesome feature to have but in fairness I have say I'm pleased with the on road ride of my Trail and my old SR5 got me in a lot of places off road and never failed to get me out so I think I'll survive. Just have to jump the mental hurdle and convince myself that all is well without it.
Well already learned a lot in the few days I've been back on the forum and looking forward to getting involved some in the community. :cheers:
