New from San Diego

I've been lurking for a bit reading up on the 5th Gen 4Runners as I try to choose my next vehicle. I currently have a built up 05 Wrangler Unlimited which is a blast off road and 13 Subaru BRZ which i'm going to hopefully unload for the 4Runner. The BRZ has been fun, but disappointing... plus we just find we need more space.

We have a trip planned to Alaska this summer so i've been throwing around the idea of overhauling the Jeep or getting truck. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the 4Runner so here I am, let the journey begin...

For the most part I knew what I was getting into with the BRZ in terms of overall size. I came from a Mini Hardtop which I absolutely loved, but reliability was a different story.

As for the BRZ i'm a bit disappointed with the lack of power. It just feels sluggish a lot of the time, I think a turbo on that engine would do wonders.

My other issues with the BRZ have nothing to do with the design of the car itself as it's a great purpose built machine. Unfortunately that purpose is for tracks and winding roads, not so much a daily commute in heavy traffic or driving around a city. The driver position is so low it makes visibility an issue at times. The BRZ loves to be rev'd up high, thats where you get the most power it seems, however, that gearing is not so great in stop/go traffic.
