New front carpet

After 10 years the factory carpet on the front is getting a bit dated. I think I remember that the carpet is a front and back half. Has anyone replaced the front? Did you just order it from Toyota and how hard was it to remove?

The carpet is one entire piece. You can take it out but it will come out as one whole piece and you will need to take out basically everything to get it out.

If I remember correctly the carpet is in 2 pieces, one for the seating area, one for the cargo area (+ the rear wheels humps). I put all new carpeting in our 4runner. I bought online from an aftermarket company. Toyota's carpet is WAY overpriced and actually pretty poor quality. The wheels humps were difficult because they weren't preformed. Also, you'll need an exacto knife because you'll have to cut holes for everthing (may want to wear leather gloves). Do some internet searching, I think I got mine for 2-3 hundred bucks. It definitely takes some time, but is worth it.

for the cargo area, you have to remove the seat backs and wrap the carpet around it (continuous with cargo area carpet)

what color did you order? looks like a significant difference from the factory color. instead of replacing my 10 yr old carpets, i have a friend who is a professional carpet cleaner, he did a hell of a number on mine with some serious vacuum and steam cleaning power. looks as good as new, removed coffee stains, baby throw up stains, etc.

That carpet actually looks pretty good, being aftermarket IMO.

it was supposed to be the same factory "oak". definately different and more of a brown color....too late now. but it looks OK. Yeah i replaced mine when i purchased it casue the prior owner was a chain smoker with sasquach as a pet (hair everywhere). All the steam in the world wouldn't have helped.

Other than the color, how was the quality and the fit? I have a muriatic acid spill in the back that ate the fibers off, so steam ain't gonna cut it....

I'd like to do a dark green to match the Imperial Jade Mica body. Oak is boring.

I have the EXACT same carpet as toy4rner. Quality is decent, in my opinion, better than stock. You can order thicker carpet and carpet with mass backing for more money. I looked online last night, there are tons of colors. Stock carpet is like $600 for front half, $500 for cargo area.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my carpet was one piece with the exception of the wheel well coverings. My cargo area carpet was sewn to the passenger area, Im not sure if everyone has that or not.

What, you couldn't get some nice shag in there?

Pfft.

Ha ha ha ~ sarcasm. Yes the color is a bit Shagtastic, but at least the truck doesn't smell like ass anymore. Fit was decent. When i first pulled it out the box, I had my doubts. But when I started to install, it came together nicely. It's much thicker than stock.....almost shag like j/k. This made it more difficult to try and bend it around the the rear seat backs. Word to the wise....cut conservatively......you can always take some extra if you need to, but can't add back.

I think the color looks good. Much better than dirty gray (supposed to be tan) carpet that was in previously. ^X2 about cutting, especially around the front shifter console.
