New game: What's the craziest thing you've found while renovating?

So I'm redoing the floors in my house, and am tearing up all the very poorly laid tile. Using a pneumatic air chisel and am making pretty short work of it.

So what's the worst thing you could find when tearing out your old floors? Mold and water damage? Foundation cracks?
How about when using a rapid striking machine like an air chisel?

I don't have any pictures but found an old vhs porn in the attic insulation as well as a bunch of late 80's beer bottles...... Hmmmmm (built in 89)

Burnt wires and ABS stuck into PVC doesn't qualify I suppose. Found an Extension chord inside a sealed wall. All covered with dry wall, running the garbage disposal, and an outlet that should be GFI'ed. Same house has dirt crawl space, pretty wet. Electric forced air furnace sitting in the damp dirt. 100 amps of 220v AC. They just coiled up the ground, and left it ungrounded.
Same house with electric water heater, also ungrounded. They just didn't; bother to hook the wire to ground it. It was 6 inches into the wet ground. No "felt" of any kind under the shingles. Only where you could see it. Floor joists cut thought to accommodate p traps. I could go on and on, but I don't think that's what you wanted to hear. A sucker is born every moment, I own that moment. :bash:
Un fortunately, I bought this disaster. All corrected now, but what a disaster.

Renovating my first rental property I found a complete collection of Playboy magazines from the very first untill October of 1999. All sealed in plastic and numbered/dated.


They were in the attic partially covered/buried in insulation.

Brother in law was an anime fan before being a cop. While renovating the house I found all his 2 samurai swords (high quality w sharpness), wooden practice sword, a KUkiri blade, a shit load of tactical knives, a cup full of 9mm rounds that he forgot about in my daughters room (was previously his), 6 BB guns + 2 BB shotguns, a 45. Revolver , 9mm glock & a AR15. He had completely failed to mention that too me and had forgotten about all the firearms stashed in the room. The only reason I didn’t flip out was because I found it first before my daughter did

He let me keep a few guns lol

My dad and I did an electrical rewire as part of a customers renovation. This house in an upscale on the river neighborhood had been bought at a parish auction. During the demo faze the home owners opened the dry wall to find a brick of white powdery stuff. So a little more demo finds another, and another. Called the sheriffs and they find 9 kilos of coke hidden throughout the house and boathouse. We were running wire and praying they missed one. That was the strangest. I’ve seen all kinds of funky duct tape and bubble gum construction projects that just made cringe. That live round is nuts, forgotten guns become mine every time.

I was pulling low voltage wires thru an attic and ran across a few scoped hunting bolt-actions. I probably should have mentioned it to the owner, later I found she was a widow and may never have known about these.

I found a bunch of silver coins in an air duct of my first home. I figure some kid must have hidden them there, as a couple of them were stacked one on top of the other and the coins were about 50 years older than the home was.

They were all 07-10 era dvds. We tossed them all out. Not worth the embarrassment of getting caught with those. I was in middle school when someone bought those dvds and I was still smart enough back then to find “Who’s Nailin Palin” online for free. That guy must be a lifelong virgin if he had to pay money for his fap material.

Mason jar full of gold

Buried under a sidewalk, I found a rusting old canning jar, apparently full of chunks of gold. Turns out it was only quartz someone painted gold.
