New Goodyear Dura-Trac

Reminds me of the General Grabber. looks like a strong tire in mud and snow..... what is it selling for?
 
I've been reading about these coming out and they do look good and the price seems to square them inbetween the Nitto TGs and the BFG KOs pricewise.

The prices on Discount direct for D load range but it appears the GYs only come in a C and E size.

Nittos $146

Goodyear $169

BFG $189
 
Discount stores are a little higher but they will match their on-line prices.

I can get the Nittos for under $700 out the door if I don't get the replacement certificates ($88) but I kinda like getting those since they will even replace off road damaged tires.

I might mull over the GYs but the Nittos have treated me quite well over the last 4 years.

Good price, but i am not sold on it. If i had a choice, then i would probably pick SilentArmor over it. As you can see from Goodyear website, it is not that great when compared to other Goodyear tires. It is more for those construction worker trucks.

I'm right there with ya. Its an AT with MT attributes. All the siping and "tractive-groove" will be a liability on the rocks. I'll bet it will be better in the snow and mud than the SA's, but overall the SA has it beat.
 
How does the SA have it beat ?

The Dura seems to be another AT alternative , does not mention anything about a construction tire either. It listed under suv/trucks.

It will be interesting.

I am debating on putting a different tire on when I put my FJ rims on . Something a little more aggressive for look and since I'm out by myself a lot off road it would be nice.

Falls, just scroll down on the goodyear link i provided above...goodyear rates their tires against its own. The only place that the DuraTrac beat the SA is in off-road traction (9 vs 8).

Huh?? What variables are you talking about?? It is from the horse's mouth....:confused:
 
........AT Tires

Just to chime in here..........having driven with the Scorpions to Alaska and now through winter (it was 55 today) I safely can add that this is a competent all season AT tire. AT attributes are notable on this tire. Tough and aggressive they are.... Rock crawling hmmm maybe not.


That said, in mud and snow from inches to feet deep this tire continues to perform well and has pulled me out of a couple jams.

Now with spring and summer on the way, the ATRs will really get a work out.

Maybe nothing. I was commenting on the AT/MS designation in general. that and a flight attendant from KLM can be very distracting. Maybe it was the wrong thread let me check.............:satan:
