New Guy From Charleston, SC

Hey Everyone,
Just picked up my first 4Runner from ATL over the weekend, '03 Limited V8 4WD, w/Nav, air rear, etc. I'm in real estate and needed something a little more practical than an EVO so it was either going to be one of these or a 2nd gen GS430. Had to be white, had to have UZ engine, and had to have tan leather. I told myself whichever one I found first in the exact spec I wanted with no exceptions I would buy. Long story short after searching for about a 2 weeks I found both vehicles for sale ATL exactly how I would have ordered them. But when I called for more info, the Lexus had already been sold... Just two days prior. Leaving only the 4Runner for the taking. I was a bit mad I wouldn't be able to look at two vehicles while down there but after seeing more photos of the 4Runner it was a done deal. I'm really happy with the new truck, good power, versatile, very comfy but still responsive, rides much better than the 2WD V8 I drove at the dealer, but I think something may have been up with the front struts on that one. We'd go over a speed bump at ~3mph and you could feel it hit the bump stops.

I did a lot of reading on this forum before picking up the truck, there's always one that stands out above the others as a great community of owners. Glad to be a part of it now!

Here are a few pictures, sorry no detailed shots, just from the day of pickup and on the way home. The only thing I need to get rid of asap are these wheels! Anybody interested in a trade plus cash for some '06+ wheels???

Too tired to drive back so after dinner we camped out in the 4Runner at a DT ATL parking garage. haha

Or maybe just powdercoat the wheels gloss black...

I'm also from Charleston, just bout a 04 Limited 4x4 V8. REALLY love the truck so far. I plan to do some general maintenance for starters:

I just ordered the fluid to change the Front Diff, Center transfer case, and rear differential. I look forward to getting a lot of good information off of these forums!

Lucky enough for me when I bought mine they just had it serviced :fro:

You have nav? If so you should give me your backup camera. haha
What colors your truck? Whatever color it is the wheels you saw in my other thread would look great on it... :

its silver w/ gray leather, and i think it has every option BUT nav, oh well. I need to tint out the windows asap! thinking about taking it to Norton's , I heard they do good tintwork, but they want $210 to do the whole truck. Not sure if thats a good deal or not

seems a bit high to me. I paid $160 for 5% on all windows except the windshield. But hey if it's real good work $50 bucks isn't that big of a deal.

The Lexus came out awesome, I'll see about getting a picture up so you can check it out. They were a bit pricey though, my dad got his truck tinted for $50 from another place this past week, I'll see if I can get the name from him.

And silver huh? Do you live in north charleston, and have HIDs on your truck? Saw one the other night and almost turned around to stop the person and ask them what kit they had installed. Looked really good, 4300k good beam pattern, looked factory.

$200 is about right. It's been so long since I got mine done that I can't remember what I paid for the rears.

Nah, Don't have the HID's although the factory headlights are nice and bright. I'd love to get more info about the $50 tint job! I haven't really shopped around there are a lot of ghetto tint shops around here, i do wonder about them and the quality of their work. I guess if the tint material they use is a good brand, its hard to really mess it up???

I live in Charleston and I got my Tacoma tinted at Sunstoppers. They do great work and its all guarantee!

i havnt been on this site long either, but ive had my 4runner for a few years. I am also from chaleston, but military life has me out in cali at the moment. I miss the low country, lookin to get back home soon, hopefully.
