I finally have something to contribute and thought I'd start off today by contributing to the plethora of knowledge and ideas contributed by our T4R society.
I've gained and stole (lack of a better word) many ideas from our collective. I am no way mechanically inclined and tend to be impulsive when it comes to following directions but I've completed most of the basic mod's that inhabit this site. Some of the more challenging tasks like lifting, or exhaust, brakes and such are something I haven't tried and probably wouldn't unless I could do these things with someone else.
What I've learned:
1.You can never read another members instructions too much. Precision is key
Plastidip works best at the recommended temperatures stated on the can. DO NOT USE THIS STUFF IN COLD WEATHER...what a nightmare
2.Make sure not to over-torque drain plugs on your t-case and differentials as they are very sensitive. I found this out 2 weeks ago after over-torquing the drain plug on the t-case and cracking the rear case casing...an $1100 mistake I will never make again
3. Most importantly, post pictures!
I love this site and I've learned to change my differentials, spark plugs, and the importance of keeping up with the maintenance of my vehicle.
So for my first mod and I hope I am doing this right by introducing it here in my introduction.
I can't claim credit as I found this on clubxterra.org. Since the Xterra fitted with different hook placement I had to switch a couple things.
Lobo Rack:
1.Pop out the tabs unscrew and take out the shirt hanger supports in the rear cargo area
2. Do the same thing for the "sissy" handles in back seat area.
3. Screw in the "sissy" handles into rear cargo area next to the headliner
4. Now you have supports for your bungee cords or caribiners or whatever you want to use to support your shelf
5. Wrap the bungee around the shelf and around the "sissy" handles.
6. The shelf will have about 3-4" of space to hold about whatever. The recessed ceiling creates a concave for the space.
7. The shelf is secure and doesn't sway side to side. I have about 2" between the window and end of the shelf
**I might try another way to secure it rather than bungee cord but I'm heading camping on Wednesday and wanted this thing in place. I may open up the headliner to see if there are any predrilled threads to attach some D rings or something. But, this thing is pretty solid.

- closet maid hanger shelf/grey....they have white too, but the grey matched the interior. It was under $6.00 and is 48"Lx12"W
- bungee cord or your choosing/screwdriver
