Hi everyone, this is my first post. I had a 2000 SR5, let ot go in 05 and regretted it since. I am looking for a 2006 - 2008. Can anyone point me in the best direction to find one ? I look on the obvious sites, Autotrader.com, Vehix.com etc, Toyota dealers, I just thought I would ask here in case there was a great website I was missing. Thanks !!

welcome! also try cars.com and craigslist for local deals.
before buying you need to know what you want. obviously you werent happy with your 05 so you need to make sure you get everything you want but at the price you can compromise with.
here are some simple questions to ask yourself first and foremost.
do i need a V8?
do i need/want 4wd?
do i want leather?
what color? if it really matters to you. some ppl will take any color as long as it has the options they like
if you want leather you'll will be looking mostly at limiteds but some sr5's had them installed at the dealership.
remember sport has hood scoop and sr5 and limited do not. and V8 4WD are all time systems with a locking center diff, no 2wd mode like the V6.
06-09 V6 and V8 have 5 speed auto transmissions.
another thing is limiteds and sports have XREAS suspension, its pretty nice for on road handling but can leak at 60k miles and are expensive to replace although you dont have to replace XREAS with XREAS. many ppl say that a full Old Man Emu lift rides nicer then stock XREAS.

I had a 2000 that I sold in 2005 which I regret, I loved that truck ! I am looking for a 2006 - 2008 model, 4 wheel dr, probably a SR5 just because I need to keep my cost at 20 k or below. I don't need leather, I just need what I had before, a huge sun roof, 4 wheel drive and a V6. I'm finding low miles, below 55 k for asking prices around 19, 20 k but they are hundreds of miles from where I live. I don't mind flying pit and drving one back but the scary part is flying 4 hrs to find out the truck is crap in person, the pics lied. I have spoked to several locat Toyota dealers and they all get a little cocky when I tell them what I'm finding, they say I can't touch one for less than 23 k and it's going to have high miles. I have till the end of November so at least I'm not pressured to buy immediately unless an unbelieveable deal comes along. Thanks for all the info !

I had a 3rd gen before buying a 4th gen and I can tell you from experience that the 4th gen V6 will feel MUCH more powerful than your 3rd gen V6. So if you were happy with the V6 in your 3rd gen, you'll be thrilled with a V6 in the 4th gen.
BTW, if you find one in the NY/NJ metro area, let me know and I'll be willing to check it out before you fly out here. I'm sure there are other guys all over the place who would also be willing to help you out like that.
