New guy from Utah

Hey, just bought a 2004 4runner sr5 v6 4x4 (vin says limited, but I'm not sure)

I've had several cars in the last two years, but this one I'm super excited about. I had a scion xb, then a mazdaspeed3, then a VW tiguan and now this.

I had wanted a Tacoma, but then realized I don't need a truck since I have a good trailer. Looked for 4runners and found this one! I actually got just under 200$ from the dealer off the trade in.

I'm going to do some research and figure out what mods I'm going to do. Right now I'm interested in an intake, exhaust, new wheels (black steelies) with some offset, and springs and shocks with a little lift.

I just got into welding and I'm hoping to weld some cool stuff for this. Anyway, look forward to learning from the members here.

Cool. I'm new to 4x4 modding, I may need help deciding what to do to the runner.

Do you use any local places for parts like lift kits and other suspension stuff?

Do nothing until you get it dirty first, that'd be my recommendation. If you're modding for functionality, first you need to know what functions you need/want :).

Several of us are headed down to wheel the Rattlesnake trail at Five Mile Pass this Saturday afternoon. It's a stock friendly trail, join us! You too, sigalution, everybody is welcome. Even UteRunner with his far-too-clean 4th gen :flipoff: :D.

Cool. I don't see myself going off roading to any extreme. So my setup would be tailored to road/mild off road. I'm thinking something adjustable.

Congrats on the Runner. I have a TRD Special Edition Sport that has luxary and also roughness. Don't have my rims yet (XD Black Spy), but getting them soon as summer gets here. Have Fun!!!!!

:moping: I've been too broke/busy to do anything fun. My 1st gen is waiting on a complete new front/rear steering and supsension repair/upgrade, getting my "new" wheels painted, mounting the "new" tires, and my 4th is going into for shop Friday for a diagnosis on some bothersome front end noises.
Once again, I'm :moping: I want to get them dirty I promise!

Yes please show up guys. I saw this guy that live across the street from me with a lifted 3rd gen so yep gonna go knock on his door. Lol

What does your '87 need? Most of my '86 is still sitting in my driveway, and I've got a good set of rear leafs sitting in my garage, come scavenge what you need man!

Let's see...
Upper & lower ball joints
Upper & lower control arm bushings
Tie rods
Pitman arm
Idler arm
Sway bar & end link bushings
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Oh, yeah. Time and money.

I also need to check the valve clearances, diagnose an idle hiccup, figure out a small oil and coolant leak (really hoping its not the head gasket), seal up the rear diff, and win the lottery. Nothing on a day like this.

Holy wow!!! You got some work cut out for you lol

You can come scavenge all that junk, as long as you don't mind slightly used. Just put your busted stuff on my truck so I can still roll it on a trailer and it's all yours.

I'll take used and free over new and expensive any day.
Now I've got to get into tearing this thing apart. First time for everything.
