you gotta get it sanded down and see whats really going on.....easiest way is to patch in new metal, cut out the rust, i usually go about an 1" around it, and patch it in......i got forchant and this truck had no rust, but i build/restore classic mini coopers for a living, so i know all about rust...lol

...so you just filled the door handle openings with fibreglass and body filler? :bash:

nope.....cut out metal to fit the opening and weld it in, then i use a skin of kitty hair, block that down, then a skim of body filler, and sand again.....i've been doing body work and paint for a bit now....just got bored and decided to work on my truck instead of work on other peoples vehicles..lol

were gonna do some crazy stuff with the paint job i think......lol....not positve on what route were gonna take, but we did buy Kandy Blue, Jet Black, Charcoal Grey, super fine metalic flakes and some pearls....so it could get interesting.......the interior is still all original but it is the blue/grey cloth

also noticed you filled in the indented body line on the lower portions of the doors.. nice touch. looking forward to seeing it done.

it makes for a cleaner look and also makes it easier to lay the tape down the ghost flames were gonna do !!

Nice work on the 4Runner.
Last year I totally stripped down my Supra to bare metal and did all the body work on that and painted it. It was just an ametuer job done in the garage but we used a compressor and spray gun so it was pretty good for our first paintjob.
Anyways, I have a new appreciation for body work and all the work that it takes so just wanted to say good job and I cant wait to see the finished product.

I really wish I could afford to have my 4Runner body freshened up.

thanks......doing it yourself defiantly makes it cheaper.....total cost for everything was somewhere around 600.00 including the autolock shaved door handle kit....plus time of course...not sure if you can see it in the photo but we also filled in the antenna hole.....antenna fit great inside the front fender, and still get great signal !!

alright, well were running behind schedule but will be painting tomarrow....got the primer done today, just have to block it out, and start to paint...here are some pics

thanks.....i hope it comes out as good as i see it in my head..lol.....kinda just wingin it as far as the design goes.....we had the basic idea on paper and now were tweaking everything as we lay it out

no sound system.....i did add 6x9's in the back....i used the 2 rear panels in the back that open for storage as box's for the speakers....just cut hole's in them and mounted them in there....sounds good at least.....
