New guy here, with "new" used 2000 T4R

A few nights ago I picked up a 2000 T4R with 87,300 miles on it. It was a local trade. Carfax came back clean as a whistle. Vehicle is a certified pre-owned, 2yr./24,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Basically the only thing not covered is oil chanfges and brake pads. A few minor scratches, and has a wonderful ride.

Anything to watch for? Changing the oil looks to be a pain, with the monstorous skid plate. Does any of the oil being drained collect on the top of the skid plate?

Welcome to the forum. Changing the oil is a pain. Some people take off the skid plate ever time they change the oil. I leave it on and the oil drips on the skid plate. I put the car up on ramps and the oil drains down the skid plate and drips off the back side were I catch the drippings in my oil catch bin. I then use a few paper towels to clean the skid plates.

You are coming up on the big 90,000 miles tune up, which should run over 1,000 dollars. Some people decide not to change the timing belt at 90,000 which is the biggest expense.

Will be getting the timing belt, water pump and seals done, as soon as I get the cash together.

Also check the rear axle seals since it's kinda common around 100k for them to leak but at 87k the timing belt/water pump should be your only maintenace issues right now.
