So it's been about two weeks since I bought my 2002 t4r. I ended up selling my Ridgeline when we bought our house and replaced it with the runner. Things I have noticed:

Definitely less power than the Ridgeline.

Rides a lot rougher, but it is a true truck.

Gas mileage is worse, but not by a lot.

Even with these negative differences, I really like the Toyota a lot better. I was going to spring for a 4th gen, but I'm glad I went 3rd. It's got 120k miles, seems to run good, it's super clean, and I only see minimal surface rust underneath. I even stuck my finger inside the frame to feel for rust and it is smooth.

I'd like to get a very mild lift for looks. I'll be doing some offroad stuff, but nothing serious. I'm looking to get a transmission cooler asap and bug guard of some sort.

I forgot what a turning radius was until I got rid of it. It wasn't a bad vehicle I suppose, it just wasn't meeting my needs. It left me wanting a little more truck and a little more SUV. I figured I'd sell it while resale was still nice and high, and get either an actual truck or SUV. Went with SUV and the only choice really is a 4runner. I'll get a utility trailer for it for pickup duties. That honda motor was smooth though. Didn't even know it was running half the time. Makes me wonder if all the 3.4's run like that or just mine. Anyway, I'll post up some pictures soon.

The Ridgeline motor is nice, quiet, and efficient. My old man has a Honda Pilot with locking diff and its great for long drives, gets good gas mileage and has room for outdoor activites...but that's where it ends. I wouldn't trade my 99' sr5 for any honda.

once you replace the suspension, probably no later than 150k miles, you will notice the ride improve drastically. this is assuming you don't go with a lift.
