I've lurked here long enough, then registered, now that I have started posting I thought I should introduce myself.
Just recently picked up my 4runner, a 99 highlander 4x4 in green.
It's a little rough around the edges but nothing major. Mostly cosmetic stuff that I don't mind.
I'm coming from a VW MKV GTI. That car, as much as I loved it, just wasn't large enough for what I need anymore.
I'm in Nacogdoches, deep pine woods of East Texas. Coming from a dropped street car to something like this...I can't wait to get it out and let it do what it does best.
Anyway, here's a pic as I picked it up. I've since removed the running boards, taken off the plastic rain guards (still trying to get the sticky residue all off, it's a pita), thinking about putting on the weathertech rain guards, not sure just yet. Have a lot in mind and stuff already on its way to me including new tires, cb, roof basket/lights, do something about the hood (faded paint, failed clear coat), dip the badges, maybe re-do the wheels (the previous owner painted them black) I'm thinking grey/anthracite would look a little better.
Then a crappy pic of it so far (wife took it)
Also included a picture of my GTI on the Tail of the Dragon (that was fun).
