New guy looking for 4Runner buying info?

Hello all! I'm of course new to this sight and looking for some buying info. I am looking for a 3rd or 4th generation 4Runner and have approximately a 15k to 16k budget. When searching cars.com etc... I find many in my price range, but they all have 100k miles plus it seems. I will be searching this sight for many answers but I have a few right off the bat that I would love to have answered.

1) Is there an expensive 100,000 + mile maintenance that needs to be done? I ask because I don't want to buy one right before it needs it.

2) Are there any years to stay away from due to mechanical issues?

3) Is it a bad idea to spend 15k to 16k on a 4Runner with over 100k in the first place?

usually this is just the typical fluid changes and engine checks, and brakes. nothing you couldnt do on your own

years no, just try and aviod the 3.0l motor and stick with the 3.4l. the 3.4 is very reliable and go forever

3) Is it a bad idea to spend 15k to 16k on a 4Runner with over 100k in the first place?
as long as it has been taken care of and your comfortable spending the money on the vehicle then as long as you take care of it, it will last
