I would get the meguiars "deep crystal" system. Ive used it on both my civic, and now my 4runner and the paint always looks almost brand new. Get 3 steps: the paint cleaner, paint polish, and carnuba wax. Oh and expect it to take almost all day too. I do it all by hand, no buffer, so yeah it takes longer, but it comes out good. For deep scratches or problems, use meguiars scratch-x. it kicks ass! other than that, if those products dont get it out, it would be best to take it to a professional and have them buff it out. They have many grades of polish that they use with their buffer so it comes out better than what we can do at home. plus if they screw it up, its all on them!

There are so many products out there.... What matters in the end is that YOU feel that you've gotten the best product you can without breaking your bank.

I use specialized products on my car... but i'm sure some people would say that another product is better... in the end... I'm proud of the job i've done on the car and it makes me happy.

Meguiars Product = :D (that's my plug)

The clay bar does wonder for the paint in terms of removing any embedded particles/grime and making the paint really smooth. Of course you will need to wax the vehicle right after you use the clay bar.

how does this sound:

1.megiuars clay bar
2.meguiras color x
3.megiuars deep crystal cleaner step 1
4.meguiars deep crystal polish step2
5.meguiars nxt wax.

I would loose the colorx...that is just a step you don't need to be making. It is a wax. If you use cleaner right after it, you are just going to be removing the wax that you just put on. :D

thanks. my initial impression was that color x was for neglected finishes and worked well on dark cars. i didnt realize it was a wax.

what about the meguairs medallion collection wax? anyone familiar with it?

1.megiuars clay bar
5.meguiars nxt wax.

Those would be the ones I'd get. I would also pick up some nice carnuba wax as well as a swirl remover 2.0

don't forget about your wheels, trim, and interior.

IForce,

you would use carnuba and nxt? use both at the same time? you prefer swirl remover 2.0 rather than the deep crystal system?

i would recommend going and picking up a small container of paint stripper (sold at any auto reconditioning shop. no, not the stuff that takes paint off. the stuff that cleans the paint). then wash it. then clay bar it. then use imperial compounding glaze (for dark finishes), then imperial finishing glaze (for dark finishes), and then a couple good coats of your wax/polish of choice. for me, that is liquid glass.

Madallion has been discontinued by Meguiars. If you use the deep crystal polish before the NXT...it will darken a dark colored car.

I use a product called "Nu-Finish"! It has worked for me over the past years and you can even polish your ride in the sun. This helps when you live in the desert like conditions of the west/southwest which lack the shady trees of the south and east coasts.

1) swirl remover 2.0 (#9) - 1x
2) nxt - its a light polish with polymer wax - 2x
3) a nice carnuba wax over top everything - 1x

make sure you let things dry and settle in before doing a second coat.

i was under the impression that carnuba doesnt adhere well on top of a synthetic wax like nxt.

I've never tried it, but I know of several people that like a carnauba wax on top of synthetic.

thanks guys. Ill prob try out the nxt alone and if i dont like it then ill hit it with the gold class or s100. just spent the last few hours detailing the inside in 30 degree weather. at least its not snowing. "Dcampen" ill be moving out by you soon to pasadena. Cant wait for the warm weather.
