Hello everyone . I just bought my first SR5 yesterday. I bought it on EBAY for $9000.00. It's a 2001 with 87000 miles .I ran a CarFax and everything looks clean. I live in Kenner La. I had to fly to Houston yesterday and drove it back home. Im getting right at 22 miles hwy. I have been wanting one for some time. Last Sunday , a girl talking on her Cellphone while doing 40 mph slamed into my truck. TheInc Co. totaled it . So I had a good excuse to buy it. Is there any way to tell if the timing belt has been change ? I look forward to getting to know you folks. Im glad I found this site.

I'm not sure about the timing belt, but welcome to the forums, and that's a very nice looking 3rd gen. :bigok:

Nice Looking rig at a great price! Most shops will put a sticker or write somewhere in the engine compartment the mileage when the timing belt was done. If not pull the black plastic cover off the front of the engine and look to see if the belt has a Toyota part number on it. If so it may be the original. If you do the timing belt do the water pump at the same time it is worth it. Mine had 140k on it before I changed the timing belt, they last quite a while. Enjoy your new ride!

Yes, there should be a sticker on the timing belt cover, usually. But at 87k miles, it probably hasn't been done, because it is required at 90k.

Also, what is that chrome trim on the front bumper? The Sport Edition came with color-matched bumpers and the base models came with the chrome bumpers. Is that just taped/screwed onto the bumper? And personally, I'd take that hideous brush guard off. :p

Anyway, nice rig!

Something isn't right there. Is it a Sport Edition? If it is, it looks to me like the front bumper was replaced with an SR5 bumper. possibly because it was wrecked in the front. You can't trust Car Fax. The truck as a whole looks very nice though! Welcome! :bigok:

The original bumper could've had a dink or two and was replaced by the previous owner and not painted.

Good price on an '01 by far with that low of miles.

Thanks for the replys.Yes , the bumper was replaced. The 1st owner ran over a piece of metal on the road and it cracked the grill , headlight and bumper. He told me that upfront. To be honest though, I kind of like the chrome. I might change out the back and put a chrome one on it. As for the Brushgaurd , belive me...it's history. The guy had just bought it and put it on. Im going to try to sell it on EBAY ..unless one of you want to buy it. Im selling it cheap.

I like the chrome myself too. That was cool he was up front about it. Congrats on your purchase! :bigok:

Welcome. You'll have no problems selling that brush guard on eBay but shipping will cut into your profit. Sell it locally if you can.
