New Hatch Ladder Option | What are you looking for?

We have been getting a lot of requests for a rear hatch ladder with the release of our roof racks. We plan to make an integrated ladder in a swing out on our future rear bumper but there also is a lot of interest in a stand-alone ladder. Before we begin producing one, we want to get your input.

What are you looking for in a ladder? Steel, aluminum, tube, boxed, formed, etc.

Works with multiple/all roof racks
doesn't **** you your paint/rear door
relatively easily removable
affordable
personally i prefer tubular

Aluminum and the ability to attach things like Rotopax. See new C4 ladder.

Having wanted one since I’ve owned a 4Runner, never bought, because well...

Aluminum
Minimal hardware (ie welded not bolted together)
Square tube steps, round tube sides, if not all round tube.

Not sure how you would change mount setup, do current ladders clamp jack you paint when installed correctly?

Pretty much inline with the other replies. Maybe design the steps placed as to not interfere with rear glass if possible. Or maybe work with it by being slightly above the window seal so long objects can rest on the rung without contacting the window seal.

Get creative and post some early concepts we could build on

Black powder coated aluminum, welded tubular design that does not mangle your paint at the bracket locations, and can be removed relatively quick. Not asking much right? LOL

aluminum, has to be able to take attachments that work with the rest of your universe (molly panels).

maybe something like the c4 ladder but with accessories

I"m waiting for c4 to come out with an cb/ham antennae mount for their ladder, etc, but my money knows no loyalty.....lol.

Being able to fit with a Rhino Rack. Also as others have stated being able to attach accessories.
