Hello Forum!
I'm new here and I purchased my 'new' 2007 Toyota 4Runner SR5 last month!
I love it!!

I've been looking at the awesome T4Rs members have and I love the lift you guys have on them!

So I'm wondering what will it take for me to lift my T4R?
1. How much will it roughly cost? ( I can't install it on my own)
2. Will the lift IMPROVE the "bounce/shaking" I get on roads? in other words will the driving feel alot smoother on the roads? ( I got a 7 series bmw and I don't feel any bumps!)

3. What's a good lift range? I really like crazydubmans lift!

4. Will I run into any problems with a lift?

Of course here are the pictures of my T4R :)

Some answers and insights...

1. I bought 4 - Bilstein 5100 Shocks and the appropriate Old Man Emu Coils from Wheeler's Off-road for roughly $550. Add a $25 Diff Drop and shipping at you're at around $625-650. Installation could be done for $300+, although, you could save the money and do the install yourself. You just need to be slightly Mechanic-savvy and have a decent set of tools. Look around for build threads and look on Toyota120 for the write ups or read mine...link is in my sig.

2. The truck will probably get slightly bumpier due to the higher (stiffer) spring rates and different dampening specs on the shocks. I went from an aged SR5 Suspension to this and the ride is pretty similar, although the higher sidewalls on the tires would also help soften the ride a bit.

3. 2.5-3" is about as much of a suspension lift you can get without doing some heavy work to adjust for a long-travel lift. You can add a 1-1.5" body lift as well to give you more tire clearance/higher look. 3" is what I have and I'm completely happy, I feel it's about the perfect amount, not too high, and definitely doesn't look stock.

4. You really won't have any problems with the lift, besides lower mileage and a bit of drift from sidewinds.

Definitely something you should do with very little drawbacks.

Thanks for all that info! I can't do that myself though haha. So I take it max lift would be 3" and 1" body lift? What is the difference between suspension left and body lift? Sorry I am not car savvy, just tech savvy :)

crazyd's is 2wd , thats how he could get it that high, but it also cost big $ to do it.
Mine is also 2wd :D

Saw that post, love it! I see some really nice looking T4R lifts.

A suspension lift will give you more suspension travel and better control offroad, be it rocks, trails, etc. A Body lift will just allow you to clear bigger tires and look a bit higher.

A LEVELING kit, or spacer lift is another option. It is a set of spacers sit on top of the front shock/coil housing and the rear coils. It lifts the truck all together about 2-3". Gives you better clearance for bigger tires and a bigger appearance. If you don't plan of getting much offroad, a spacer lift will be more economical and a fine choice. Even moderate offroading will be doable. Only drawbacks are stock suspension articlation and your aging stock suspension can sag over time.
