New Here...Making a 4Runner Purchase in Sept/Oct.

Hey all...just wanted to pop in and say hello. I've been lurking on the site for a week now just reading info, looking at pictures, getting the lowdown on all the 2003-2006 4Runners that I can possibly handle. I finally made a decision to purchase one this fall, so I wanted to register and say hello. Also, this is a great site...tons of info here, I don't think I would have gotten as much info as I have without reading all the great posts...so thanks to all of you!

I'm not purchasing new, but rather looking for a good, certified 2003-2005 somewhere...it looks like they're not hard to find, so I'm sure I'll be able to get what I want. I'm more than likely going to be looking for a Sport model 4x4 V6, but if I find a V8 to match my price needs, I'll be more than happy to pick one up. Looking forward to learning more and more about these trucks in the next couple of months, and I'm definitely looking forward to purchasing my "new to me" 4th Generation 4Runner.

Good luck on finding the 4Runner that you want. You will probably get a great deal on a V8 4Runner because of rising gas prices. People really don't want to buy an SUV, especially a V8 SUV. It is scary to see how many 4Runners are on the used car lot at my local Toyota dealer.

Thanks...yeah, the odd thing I noticed about the V8's mileage compared to the V6 is that it's not that different. I know that's numbers on paper...but still, seemed a little weird to me. Like I said, I guess I'll just pick the best deal when the time comes, and if it happens to be a V8, then so be it

You will be able to get a good deal on a v6 or v8 , used truck's/Suv's are a tough sell right now with gas prices. Won't make a difference on the 6 or the 8 IMO , they are so close in mpg just get what you want. If your interest in a runner with better milage I suggest a 2wd.....not my choice but maybe it will work for you.

Go for a 2005, if your budget and availability permits. The reason being is 2005 V6 have a 5 speed transmission and the V8 has VVT-i increasing horsepower and torque.
