New K&N part for v6

just got an email from K&N:fuel injection performance kit for v6 4runner part #57-9023. For anyone interested. I myself opted not to use the parts, too expesive, heard bad and good about them(filters,intake systems). But I thought I would let you know.

I have had the K&N Aircharger for my V8 and now they have the FIPK available and dont show the aircharger, they look exactly the same...anyone know what the differences are? I know the description for the FIPK is CARB exempt and street legal and the aircharger didnt have that...i am thinking they call it the aircharger until it gets CARB ready or something...i am not really sure....all i know is they look exactly the same
 
Well, I wrote them an email asking what the differences are, and here is what they wrote back :

The main differences are that the 63 series is for off road use only and will soon be discontinued. the 57 series kit has been approved by the Air Resources Board and is street legal in all 50 states.

Yeah, it doesnt really explain anything...I just figured it started out as an aircharger then once it passes whatever certs or emissions tests it becomes a FIPK...it seems like they arent available at the same time...that is my take on it....Because from looking at my aircharger and looking at the pictures of the FIPK it looks exactly the same because there isnt much to them just a filter and a tube so I dont see how there can be any differences...who knows :confused:

The only difference is that the 63-series has obtained its smog certification and is now an FIPK 57-series. You can purchase the 63-series and visit this page <http://www.knfilters.com/decal.htm> to print and mail in to get a smog decal.
 
Cool...i will have to fill that out...thanks for the info...so basically, once it becomes smog legal the aircharger must then become the FIPK...thanks again
