New lift isn't very up lifting.

I just finished my lift install. Went with the trd bilstein for the front and 5100 for the rear. I know the rear with be higher which I'm fine with. It's actually about 5-1/2" plus higher. But the front is only 1-3/4" taller. From my understanding, I thought that if you had the trd front at the second ring from the bottom that that was a 3" lift. Please correct if I'm mistaken. Lift is on a 99 limited with stock bumpers. I did also install the LR control arms. Thanks for any input.

there are a lot of trd coils. do you mean the yy yb tundra coils that came on a lot of different tundras not just the trd?

also how are you measuring? typically from fender to hub on a stock new 4runner without flares the front is 19.5". the flares can change that number depending on how they are bolted up by about half an inch but usually less.

if you do have the yy yb coils, and you arent happy with the height, you have a few options. raise the perch, add a top plate spacer, switch to the eibach coils.

Yes the fronts are the yy and yb. I'm measuring frame the ground to fender. It's not really going to matter how I measure. It's suppose to be a 3" lift. So with the front starting at 35-1/2 and only reaching 37-1/4, doesn't really add up.

So youre running the Tundra coils with Tundra 5100s up front correct? Not the Tacoma 5100s? In the back it sounds like you have the 8 or 9 wrap LC coils. I had the 7 wraps at one time, and even those were too tall for me. Youre probably at a 2+ lift in the front, but the enormous lift in the back is trumping the front, making it look small

You need to measure from center hub to fender.
Ground to fender will probably be more accurate because your not hovering your measuring tape in the air next to the hub.

Adkins, are you still running the cone bumpstop in the rear?
And do you have a higher spring perch to try on the front?

Ground to fender is the most accurate since nothing else has changed. I did run the rear bump stop. I was debating if this could be cause such a difference. It should only change it 3/8-1/2". I'm running on the second from bottom perch which is suppose to be the 3" lift. I could move it up one spot, but I thought that was more for having the extra weight up front.

no its not accurate to measure fender to ground the tires could be lower on air, or a different size. fender to hub is pretty much the best way to measure. the amount of lift you get is always compared to a stock 4runner. you have a 99 limited, therefore you had 99 talls. so you already had an inch of lift compared to most stock 4runners. Like i said previously 19.5" is what most 3rd gens came with stock in the front, measuring from hub to fender. and also with most lifts the amount of lift you get is going to vary, differences in weight, how it is aligned and the flatness of where its parked.

when I put my tundra coils on the second perch initially it was between 2.5 and 3 inches. I machined a 1/4" toplate spacer to get a little extra height and also correct for drivers side lean. now im just above 3" on both sides.

hopefully this explains things a bit better for you.

Could you verify what part# your front Bilsteins are? If you are running the Tundra ones, they have 5 grooves and from what I hear the first one is lower than stock and the 2nd one is only very slightly higher if not the same as stock.

with the tundra springs on the tundra 5100s it is always higher than stock. he just has 99 talls and has not accounted for that when measuring the amount of lift.

Tire size throws that off though. If you want to measure suspension lift and nothing but suspension lift, measure from the hub to the fender.

OP, you might be getting less lift than you expected in front because the back is so high. That shifts weight to the front, compressing those springs more than otherwise.

I plan on pulling the rear bump stops to see what that does. I'm measuring everything with the same tire that was on the corner to begin with. Flare garage floor and heated. Tire pressure will not make it vary 1/2" or more. But regardless of how I measure I have at least a 3" rake. The front shocks have 5 grooves. So unless they are something oddball they are the tundra.

actually the Tacoma coils and shocks will look similar and will give less lift than the tundra.

who sold them to you? you'll really want to confirm this.

the Tacoma coils don't really work with Tundra shocks so if the shock is for a Tacoma then i would assume so is the coil.

You can take the Toyota part number off the stock, take a picture and call your local dealership.

What perch in the front? With LCs in the back you might need to be on the 3rd perch in the front. I am on the 2nd perch with more mild OME 890 coils in the rear. Same 5100 tundra shocks and truck is level.

Yes but measuring it that way makes it impossible to compare it to anyone else's rig with the same components. Also, we have no idea if your original springs were worn out and sagging so before and after measurements don't really tell us anything.

I got the rear bump stops out. Measuring hub to fender is at 24-1/2 on both sides. The front is currently at 22-1/2. So comparing to the "trd vs ome" thread, the rear is about spot on the front is low. Going to try and go third perch on it and get it all aligned. I've been talking with the distributor and he said that he has not seen this issue. I believe its just my luck since normally I lower vehicles with air ride and this is going the opposite direction.

Thanks for all the input. I'll post an update when I have one.

22.5 hub to fender is 3" of lift, 19.5 is stock. the third perch rides like shit because the coils are closer together and the spindle cannnot easily fit between them. good luck.

Nope. It's 2-1/2. Distrubutor even said its not fully lifted.

Actually on mine it's only 1-1/2
