New Lift & New Vibrations

New Lift PICS

I know I'm kicking a dead horse here...but. I installed my 2.5 daystar kit last. I had the alignment done today. The truck still pulls pretty hard to the left and there is a vibration in my steering whel when I get to 55 MPH. I haven't dropped my diff yet....doing that tonight. Will the diff drop fix the vibration? Or do I need to go back have the shop re-align my truck again. I have not installed my new tires yet either. Doing that tomorrow as well.

Any thoughts???

How many miles on the truck?

Could be steering rack bushings and possibly other bushings as well

Thanks for the reply....I dropped the differential this afternoon and it fixed the vibrations. Got the truck up to 60 and it as smooth as it was before the lift. Still pulls to the left but maybe it has to do with the cupped tires that are on the truck right now. Going tomorrow to install the tires. I'm pumped!!!!

In the future, it's always best to do the alignment right after you get the new tires. Some will say it's not necessary, but if you align it with old cupped tires, it can make the suspension lean slightly. A different size tire will also slightly magnify some of the adjustments they may have made during the alignment.

Guys that depend soley on the machine are usually the ones to say it doesn't matter, but different tires just sit differently and the only way to get a real good alignment is to check it against reality. It may not be worth it in your case but if you're gonna realign it, do it after they put the tires on tomorrow. BTW, I had to get 2 alignments before I found someone who was good.

I definitely see your point....it's been hectic around work lately and I'm trying to squeeze in every service (lift self-install, alignment, tire install etc.) a little bit at a time. The alignment place that I took it to was highly recommended for lifted trucks. I spoke to the alignment guy right after I left their shop to tell him about the pull and vibration. He said the vibration was due to the cv angles (he was right) and he told me to bring it back in after I drop the diff and put the tires on and then they'll take another look at it on the alignment rack.

mike_m, I actually made my diff drop kit. The extra long 1/2 grade 8 bolts are pretty hard to find and not that cheap when all the pieces were purchased. I bought (10) grade 8 washers to stack 5 on each side to achieve my desired drop. I get hardware at a little over cost so it cost me only $15 to build the kit. $30 is a good price from toytec.
