NEW Lower Rear Links for 3rd gens.

We just finished up testing our new lower rear links. The stock lower links bend easily and do not have very much range of motion in the bushings. Replace them with some USA made BEEFYNESS!

They are built from 1.5” X ¼” wall DOM tubing. With a fixed greaseable poly bushing in one end and a fully adjustable PTFE lined, 28,090 radial load heat treated rod end on the other.
These new links are as tough as you can get with the ability to adjust your pinion angle on your lifted Runner!

I notice that you have them mounted with the Heim at the body and the poly on the axle. Would they be better/quieter turned the other way?

We choose to have them mount with the heim on the frame because that way the heim would be better protected from bashing on rocks. Also in theory, since the bushing is on the axle, there will be less vibration and movement transmitted to the heim which should make it last longer.

I am running a pair of these on my 3rd gen and i didn't notice a difference vs the stock link. Well except that they flex better and and have a higher beef content :biggrin2:
 
It would cooler if they could make both the upper and lower adjustable. I'd like to move my axle further back to center it in the wheel well.

The reason why we did heims on one end was because of the adjustability. With a poly bushing on both ends, you would lose that. We do have links that use Johnny Joints on one end and a poly bushing on the other.

Very nice! Now if I could only figure out a way to be able to run them. My rear is stuffing into my body as it is. Need more trimming I guess.

But keep in mind that if you do this, it will impact the rear fender sooner than with stock length.

The axle moves in an elliptical arc - I am happy to have mine a little forward based on the lift I have as I know that on full compression it will sit center in the wheel well.

Mind you that i had lifted my body 2" so it never bottoms. If i can move the axle back, it would center it during normal stance.

It is elliptical but it wheel is pretty close the outer arc of it anyway. Also, 4runner is super easy to check clearances. Set your control bar lengths, remove the springs and jack the axle through its travel. If it hits, back it off a little and good to go.
 
Hmm... My rear tires rub the rear of the wheel well during compression, I'd want to move it forward if anything...(actually, the stock length is probably the best position).

Upper control arms that are adjustable would be nice to rotate the pinion angle a tad for lifted applications.
 
Do you guys make extended front sway bar links for lifted 3rd Gen 4Runners?

If not then please explain because everyone with a lift needs them and the market is wide open.

The "lower rear links" in this thread look great but only extreme wheelers need them, my factory ones are still going strong after 8 years of owning my rig.

Whereas extended front sway bar links ... well we all need those.

The factory links may be sufficient but even on easy to moderate trails, you have potential to bend the lower links. One solid impact on a rock is all it would take really.... Plus, when the bushings go on your stock links, I doubt you want to buy some new OEM toyota links for probably like $400 each! haha

As per the links: WabFab offroad makes some quick-disconnect extended length ones, although pricey... Or, you just take the sway bars off!!! haha Can't you just run stock 2nd gen links o our 3rd gens?? (the 2nd gen 4Runners have longer stock links I thought??)

We have talked about it in the past. I'll check to see if we can get something put together
