Hey everyone. Been lurking for a little while and finally decided to register. Nice community you have here.

Me and the wife are expecting our first child in 5 months, so we've been thinking about getting a new vehicle. I had an 04 Tundra Dcab when they first came out and I loved that truck. Was going back and forth between the 06 Dcab, waiting to see the new 07 Tundy or an 06 4runner SE 4wd V8.

Is the SE the best way to get the popular options at a reasonable price? Is the low 30K's reasonable for this rig?

Thanks!!!:D

SMOKEATR - Welcome to the forums! I think the SE is the best bargain between the 3 trim levels but I'm somewhat biased as I bought the SE ;):

I didn't need the premium options that the Limited offered and didn't feel the extra costs were worth it. With the SR5 I felt it lacked some of the amenities that a 30K should have (Heated side mirrors, telescoping steering wheel, leather wrapped steering wheel (optional on SR5), color matched side mirrors (looks better than the unpainted side mirrors) etc.

So the SE offered what I needed and wanted. It would have been nice to have some of the Limited options, but I didn't necessarily need them, just wanted.

And yes, low 30K is not a bad priced for an optioned SE.

oh yeah, the hood scoop is bitchin'

Welcome to the forum SMOKEATR,

I have two kids, one is 2 1/2 and the other is 10 months old.
We began with a 2002 Honda CRV, and then we bought a used 2003 SE w/ 42000 miles from an ACURA stealership.
I like the way it handles and there is a lot of room inside.
I bought mine with the single CD 10 speaker pkg, dbl decker cargo, and sunroof (it may come standard).
Do some shopping around, seems like you have the LUXURY of time (5Months) to make your final decision.

The sticker price was below NADA prices. It will leave you with cash to purchase any after market accesories (K&N filters, AMSOIL SYN OIL, upgraded after market Head Unit, etc.)

Just my two cents :)

And yes, my opinion is biased so get the SE.

Thanks for the replies!

My only debate really is that at that same price of an SE V8 4wd T4R I can get an 06 Tundy Dcab Limited TRD 4wd.

The tundy would have more options and it's larger, but with the baby I'm thinking I'd need all the rear cargo space. If I got another Tundy I'd have to get a cover and the cargo mgmt issue could get bothersome. PLus we have a dog (english bully :D ) so putting her in the way back would be nice.

I guess I best go drive one ;):

one of my friends had an 2003 sport edition v8 and he loved it. he was kind of a rugged type guy so the truck really suited him. i am too used to my luxury amenities to give them up lol. The 4runner really is a great size, i don't have any kids but my 04' 4Runner just went to my brother because he has a little one on the way :D
