New Member - 99 Turbo 4Runner - 5vz

Hello,

I am new to the board and thought I would share some pics and info about my 99 4runner.

After a year and a half of installing, tweaking, and tuning I finally have my turbo 4runner up and running near perfect (the tune can always be a little better right ). This started out as a project to create a completley bolt on kit for 3rd gen 4runners and taco's, but due to the vast differences year to year it turns out that the kit was never realized. However, the shop who fabricated the manifold and other piping is fabricating and installing turbo set-ups on an individual basis.

Anyways, here are some pics of how the motor turned out! I have not dyno'd the current set-up (new turbo, ported manifold, new downpipe, new engine managment etc..), but the old one put down 272 hp and 379 TQ at 7 lbs of boost. I am currently running about 10 lbs and will be heading to the dyno is a couple weeks!

I used to have the TRD S/C with all the fuel mods, but decided to try something different with more potential. Besides that I have done the following:

Turbo - w/ URD port fueler
OME Lift front and Back
IPT Transmission Valve Body
Full 3 inch exhaust with magnaflow 22 inch
TRD Tranny cooler
17x9 Rims with 275/70/17 goodyear A/T

That's about it I think!

Now I will be really impressed if you hook up an intercooler and use the factory hood scoop that is used in the overseas turbo diesel models and here on the sport editions......

I am already running a front mounted intercooler and have the hood scoop (came stock on my 99 "highlander" model). I tried to fit in a top mounted intercooler to make the hood scoop functional but there was just not enoufgh room without doing a 2-3 inch body lift.

I'm now wishing I had not clicked on this thread "you are a berry berry bad man!". JUST when I thought I might have drained all the "boosted blood" from my vein's you go and do something like this, when will OTHER PEPLE: stop enabling my addiction's:bash: !!!

Haha - funny. I know what you mean.... I have everything up and running damn near perfect finally and what am I going to do? Upgrade to full tubular manifolds on each bank of cylinders! I will be going to dyno with the log style I have on now and then upgrade and dyno again to see the results.

If you do decide to try and go turbo, let me know and I will offer any help I can! You running a S/C now??

The addiction and modification's will NEVER end until you just say "NO"!! Yah I just sold my '95 SC300 that has a '95 TT Supra engine swap boosted by the Greddy T78, I will definitely miss the car. Maybe someday I'll get another hotrod but for now I like actually like having a bank account in the black instead of the red:. Anyway fishing's alot more fun at 42yr's old than having everybody in their parent's 4-door Accord wanting to race you.

I forgot to ask what size tubo are you running in the pic, compressor and turbine trim's and turbine housing ratio, unless they are hush hush?

T3/T04E - .63 A/R Hot Side - .55 A/R Cold Side - Stage 5 Wheel - 60 Trim - Turbonetics Ceramic Ball Bearing.

That's a nice turbo it's the exact size of the first turbo upgrade on my MR2T but without the BB option.

Looking forward to the report from the tubular manifold upgrade.
