Greetings folks....
I have never owned a Toyota before and......
I just got an '88 t4r sr5 with only 49000 mi. It has the v-6 auto, power windows , sunroof, nice interior.....unfortunately, it's got the rust problem in the rear quarters. Front fenders and frame are excellent. Nerf bars are completely rusted thru.....

I plan to to rebuild/paint the truck with hopes of it not rusting out again.

What are my options on rust repair?
Where can I find the paint code on this truck? Its a metallic gray.

Most importantly.... where can I find parts for this classic yota?
Things like a cracked dash repair and where to find powered mirrors?
Any help appreciated.

i use this site to find paint codes for restorations i do.....also your local paint and body work supply shop should have paint chip books with the right code for your year and model......POR-15 is a great product to stop rust from spreading.....sometimes you can get lucky and find parts at a local yard, but seems to be getting really hard......there are a few suppliers that sell fiberglass replacement panels...which are good because they wont rust...

I searched here for"fiberglass" and found the toyotafiberglass.com site. those fenders look nice.......

Anyone here install these 1st hand? How long did it take to receive after ordering?

Only found one supplier for nerf bars.....here - part# 793FA
Suprising no one makes these.nerf bars

And for mirrors ( I need both sides, powered) I found these

mirrors ! over 200 bucks each !

I would check out ebay for the mirrors, there are about 300 parts for the 1st gen on there. Also I just got a rust free tailgate from craigslist with no window or motor for $50.00.

By the way nice runner. Only 49,000 miles! you got a nice one!

The paint code, and a lot of other info, is on the VIN plate on the firewall or driver doorjamb.

well , fiberglass is out - a ~6 month wait for the rear quarters.... won't happen.

I'll have to go with steel and por 15.

Checking on wolfsteel now... Any comments here?

Oh and how do you get those L channel trims off??!!
