Hi. I've been on this forum since I bought my 4runner a few months ago but I've really been getting into it lately. I'm currently out of the country but call Anchorage Alaska home until some time next year.

I had a 2001 Dodge Ram (bought it to pull my trailer and Grizzly 660) and 2012 VW Golf R but the truck was older so i didnt plan on beating on it and the R, even though it was a super fun car to drive, wasn't a good Alaskan car. So I went in to the VW dealership in Anchorage where I knew I'd get top dollar for the R and walked out with a black 2015 4runner trail with KDSS. I haven't been disappointed since.

Just getting into the off road scene, I don't know many people in Alaska but contacted 'Alaska Exteme 4wheelers' a facebook group that does regular runs into the woods and to glaciers that I plan on meeting up with to get some offroad miles onto my 4runner.

I love the overlanding idea and Im in the perfect place to figure it out because Alaska is a great place to explore.

I'll have to take a look at that. Maybe ill find some spots I can go to with mine. I actually first got hooked on the 4runner when I saw a clip on YouTube of the show expedition overland. The 4runners popularity definitely shows on off-road shows.

Yea it's weird going from having to pull myself up to get out of the golf to pull myself up to get into my 4runner lol.

I appreciate it. Schmitty is a nickname I've gotten while working with the Army so it just kinda stuck and now i use that for almost everything. Lol

Thanks! I have two ways to get to work. On the concrete road or a dirt trail that saves 10 minutes, doesn't have cops (not that I'm usually doing anything wrong), and is a lot more fun. I usually pick the dirt road lol. Most of my pictures have dirt and mud on the vehicle even though I wash it all the time.
 
Hi, I am new to 4runners also (just got an 06 V8). I lived in Fairbanks for a few years growing up my parents were stationed at Eielson but we went to Anchorage to visit friends
